insurance woes

Renewal just arrived! This thread had me worried about what I might expect but apparently God is in his heaven and everything's all right with the world so here's my tip:

Classic policy (so you have to own another car) (or claim to??) for 944 Turbo SE, limited to 5000 miles (but miles outside UK don't need to count towards the total - contact me for info), garaged, includes trackday cover at additional £20 per event, all for £305 (last year £300). Policy written with Royal & Sun Alliance. How happy am I??! OK I'm 53 but I do have a claim within last 3 years and 3 points for speeding. [:D]
 
I am with Elephant - paying just over £1000 on a 10 month policy for a 924S parked on the street in South London with no NCD and I'm 26.
I had a nightmare getting quotes - majority wanted between £2000 to £3000, got one quote for £10,000 and one company even told me they wouldn't touch me for less than £20,000!
I'm just praying that Elephant will continue to be reasonable when my renewal is due!
 
Thats not good, £380 for cover you can buy for £163 [:mad:]

Have you had a quote for a Turbo yet? [:D]

I'm with Flux (RSA classic) and my insurance expires on the 10th (next week) I only paid £200 last year but I'm expecting it to be more this year.
 
It is a sad reflection on the industry that most if not all Classic policies have no allowance for any return of premium in any event - mine wanted £35 to change the reg no over on the same car!
 
Robbing buggers! I succumbed and paid up, didn't have much choice really. After a lot of moaning on my part they waived their fee so I had to pay an extra £36, not 60 odd. Doesn't sound much but when I was expecting £100 or more back, still not happy. Will be going elsewhere come renewal time.
 
Thats just another case of how bad classic policies are becoming, they are stripping them down and adding some horrid clauses. I remember the days when you could accrue NCB but even that isn't allowed on most classic policies now, not that there is any real bonus to that now what with insurance premiums rising every year.

But to have to pay more for a 2.5 than a S2 is just legalised robbery!
 
I'd not only tell them how unhappy you are but that you are going to make a big noise about it on every enthusiast car forum you frequent. I.e. all the ones they pay out a fortune for banner advertising on.
 
have you heard of the 'Distance Selling ' regulations ?
By law anyone purchasing online or telephone etc has a 7 day cooling off period within which time they can cancel with no penalty and get a full refund.I'm sure that includes insurance cover.

If they neglected to tell you that or they didn't advise you clearly about cancelation options before selling they are breaking the law.

Thanks for the tip peanut. However, I took out the policy about 2 months ago, I've got no comeback - its the change of vehicle they're stiffing me on
 
barstewards[:mad:].....My Wifes insurers Asda shafted me for £50.00 to add me for 4 weeks to her policy as an additional driver
