Just started happily getting quotes for a 993 C4 I have just put deposit on. Its not my main vehicle but weekend use and special ocassions.

I'm gobsmacked to learn that I can only use my full no claims on one vehicle even though I am the single named driver on both and can only use one at a time.

Any help or ideas??

I was in a similar position last year and car 1 was insured with elephant, i called them and asked if they can do anything for me if i moved car 2 to them, they said due to my 7 yrs NCD on car 1 they will give me max on the porsche car 2 but i couldnt protect the NCD till after a 12 month policy had elapsed.
Might be worth giving them a call and see if you can change 2 cars over for a bit of assistance.

PS, car 2 then.......was 964 and the quote was cheaper than anyone else for me, they dont do trackdays paid or otherwise though.

link at http://www.elephant.co.uk/index.phtml best to phone obviously [;)]

Norwich Union Direct will cover both vehicles with NCD on both vehicles but you will need to move to them. It is rediculous that it is NCD for the vehicle and not the driver - it's not the car that drives the driver!!! Why are they so thick!

Give Performance Marque a go, they mirrored my max no claims held on other vehicles for new cover on C4S, also included cover for my wife under 30, PCGB track day cover (excess £750) + other worthwile benifits all for a very reasonable premium. No issues with choping cover around for additional drivers, service car cover etc.

PS please don't bend it and put my premiums up

Thanks all. E mail requests for quote flying off in all directions.

I will do my best not to bend it. I'm not doing track days and went for C4 'cause I'm an old fart.

Tesco Insurance did this to me, pulling my cover when they realised that the 993 was an additional car and not a new car so I had no NCB to transfer to it.

I went back to Admiral who insure our other cars, explained the problem, and they transferred a NCB from a car that I had previously had insured with them to the 993, giving me a 7 years NCB. Which was nice!

Not sure how they handle second cars, but surprisingly Natwest insured my C4 for 60% cheaper than Norwich (£925 versus £1500).

Couldn't agree more. I obtained half a dozen quotes for my 993 ranging from £650 to £2300. And the cheapest - Liverpool Victoria. I was also impressed with their service.

Just been going through same renewals process.

Privilege - £682
NU Direct - £662
Peart - £650
Direct Line - £611
Churchill - £563
SAGA - £533

Will now try Liverpool.

Prices are for 54 year young, living in Lancashire, car garaged, Tracker

should add to the quote i had from L&V - business miles included, car on driveway 7500 mileage p/a

David - are you david baker formerly of lancia owners club?

I recently got a quote from Liverpool Victoria. When I asked if it included track day cover and they said no, they don't cover track days (and I did emphasise the non competitive bit)

There have been quite a few postings about Livepool Victoria providing covering for track days - I'm a bit puzzled by this!

Yes that was the down-side to taking my policy with L&V. However, as I was not convinced that I would be doing a track day I thought I would take the saving with L&V and insure a track day individually if I decided to do one.

I placed my insurance with Performance Marque via Norwich Union at about £670 and it had track day cover as standard even though I don't want it.

Sorry, other way round. with Norwich Union via Performance Marque. Its that Friday evening feeling. Still I've got the weekend driving to look forward to.

My experience with Admiral in the past has been excellent when it came to making a claim and arranging for repairs.

On my other cars, they agreed to have it repaired by the main dealership no quibbles asked even when an independent would have been much much cheaper. And this was for a 12 year old car!

I recently received my renewal notice from Pearts Brokers, quoting a renewal premium of approx £910 for my 993 C4, with Royal Sun Alliance.
A trawl around the internet resulted in a quote of £652.05 Including UK and European breakdown cover, protected no claims bonus and Guaranteed Hire car in the event of a claim The quote was from..............Privilege.I have accepted their quote and have saved myself 28.87% over the previous company, which did not include any breakdown protection!

I've now worked out why Admiral are so cheap. They don't cover "optional extras"

KYO, it appears that this has only happened since February. I must admit, before I got my 993, Admiral were excellent with my previous cars - it appears things have changed though.

This type of cover means that if I need a new windscreen, they will only replace it with a "standard screen" ie without the green top tint because that was an optional extra. Any repairs will also only be to standard spec. Not too sure what would happen if I need one new wheel ... do they put one 16 inch wheel on as that is standard spec!?!?

What concerns me more is if it was a total loss. Would they take book price and then knock off the cost of aircon, the sunroof, the sports seats .... it appears they would make deductions.

Back to Privilege me thinks.

I've used Performance Marque a few times... their service was so bad I wouldn't touch them again. First time got a speeding ticket a month after taking it out, no insurance certificate received by then and original insurance covernote had expired. Got a caution for being unable to produce insurance docs.

A few years later, tried them again thinking they may have changed. This time only got a faxed cover note, the original got lost in the post. I got another speeding ticket a month after taking the insurance out (some pattern there eh?) and police wouldn't accept the faxed cover note and PM couldn't issue retrospectively. Fortunately the police accepted the story about the poor service and let me off as long as I took the insurance certificate in, which took another month to arrive.

The best service I had was Churchill, they chase the other party mercilessly. They were very cheap but the following year they ramped the cost up by £500 even though my claim was 'no fault' (other party ran a red light).

A guy I know was in a hit and run, fortunately his nuberplate broke off in the smash so he ws easily traced. The police however decided not to press charges as they'd messed up the paperwork and he moved house by the time they decided to interview him. As he wasn't charged his insurance refused to pay up. Churchill took out a private prosecution, got a guilty verdict and his insurance eventually coughed up.

Has anyone any experience with Carole Nash? My premium is due in a month or two

Guys
This thread is making my head spin at the size of your premiums. You dont indicate ages but I guess you are under forty.
I drive a 993 Turbo with factory power hike and, although I am 64, I only pay £375.90 with A. Manning (Allianz/Cornhill). This is fully comp with Porsche trackdays free.
Try your luck on 01491 578759.
