I'm new to this site - having just upgradedfrom a boxster s to a facelifted 996 and wanted to know who you gusy & girls recommmend to insure with?

I am curently with Bell Direct and they have quoted £1250 for a 12 month policy - the car is kept on a drive way and I have 6 uears no claims (protected).

Esure and morthan won't go near me.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated,

I pay approx £700 / year for a 996 C2 including Business use with Privilege Insurance - 0845 246 0311 - and they did not require a Tracker. GOOD LUCK !

I pay £640 with Norwich Union direct but only use them if you are happy dealing with India for all your claims and renewals. I found it rather frustrating and long winded to say the least. Tesco are a good source as well.

Porsche insurance direct are great to deal with and have superb customer service, but quote a fortune.. They are underwritten by Norwich Union... If you go to NUdirect get a cheap quote then go back to PI they will do the deal at the lower quote! I've done it, it works! AND they were the cheapest by far...

Try Liverpool Victoria too, I found them cheaper than Privelige and dont require a Tracker..

Liverpool Victoria without a doubt. Rang round loads and they were best VFM. age 41 living in glasgow , fully comp and 5 yrs NCD = £755. A mate with a new boxter did the same. They also claim to cover track days so long as not competitive.....hmmm

Not got web link but phone 0870 600 4528

Norwich Union seem very competitive.

I think the key thing is to ensure (pardon the pun) they will use OPCs or approved Porsche body shops for any repairs, some of the really cheap guys like Elephant were very vague about this.

Performance Marque 0121 248 0996

Dealt with a non fault claim very well, and on a recent change of vehicle fought hard to get me good cover.. prices were better than others I tried.
IMHO

I'm with Egg - good price but I just found out they don't cover track days, even with an extra premium!

I guess you do not have a Tiptronic Carrera.
Rang them to obtain a quote, but apparentely my version of 911 doesn't exist!
1998-2002 3.4L cars only come in manual, or if they are automatic they must be Carrera S!
I wasn't aware that 996 model had a Carrera S.
They also have an automatic model of Carrera from 1993-2002 on their database with a 3.8L engine.
Wasn't worth arguing with the girl-drone on the phone since if it isn't in their database, it cannot possibly exist, so cannot be insured.

Nope - a 3.4L 996 & fortunately its a manual! Just goes to show - if there was an ins co that consistently delivered VFM & good service we'd beat the proverbial path to their door.

Sounds expensive, try Liverpool Victoria

I am 52, Wife 48, 1998 C2 Tip, 3 points, protected bonus, unlimited mileage, business use, SL6 postcode, and it costs me £575pa.

Yes Liverpool victoria - should be £600 - £900

Just called my son - Lives in Bradford 33yrs old 3 points full no clains £900

Not bad as the 968 on 5000 miles per year cost me £350 []

I tried L and V. £1200. Can't understand. Norwich Union direct say £850 - provided I have Thacham 1. Do I please see separate post.

Guess that I will have to look for separate cover for my Porsche Experience day. Any ideas?
