Insurance

I pay Norwich Union £1000 pa. I'm 54 and wife 50 no points etc and full no claim, will try Liverpool Victoria next time. Is the car being parked on the drive a factor, mine is garaged.

My big gripe with our car insurance is that we have three cars in our two names so more that two of the being driven simultaneously would be a good trick. Given this we are still charged insurance equivalent to the three separate policies, surely the cheapest should come for free. Does anyone know of an insurance company that will take this type of situation into account, I can't find one.

This is an interesting thread - probably done before but who cares? - I'm amazed that something can't be done to assist multi-car families - I asked my broker (who is a good friend) about the opportunity of having a "fleet" policy but the underwriters would only consider a buisness usage basis (which immediately upped the ante).
My "spouse" and I are 45/46, live in SE London, are the only named drivers on each policy, with full protected bonuses no points and currently pay around £3.5k in premiums on a Passat an Allroad and the 911, which by itself is about £1500 with Hill House Hammond - part of Norwich Union. None of them are declared as garaged - the excess is £250 each policy.
£500 covers an RS2000 and 924 CGT on a classic basis and because they are over 20 years old I get unlimited mileage cover. However we can't drive all of them at the same time so I wish someone could come up with a good plan for us.

Thanks for your help. Let me tell you what happened.

As I said my broker was quoting me £1350 plus £100 to cover Porsche Experience day.

I tried Carole Nash and Liverpool Direct - both around £1200

I tried Norwich Union Direct - £790.

Phoned up Porsche Insurance - £1200. Told them that Norwich Union had quoted £790. They said that if I could prove this quote, they would match it - which they have - and that policy included cover for 2 track days.

I am v. impressed.
