It's renewal time again, and despite no changes in my circumstances my quoted premium has gone up by 20% over last year

After 7 years with the same broker, I'm going to look elsewhere

Your suggestions / help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Dave

I found Footman James very competitive for my 997 Turbo - 300 GBP cheaper than the next cheapest I tried - all the best ones were those listed on the PCGB website.

Performance direct is my current broker, using Chaucer insurance. My premium is £340 on a 911 with all the mods you can see in the picture. Oh and im only 26! So good quote i think.

Academy insurance: so cheap you'd think they were giving it away![;)]

Seconded. At the very least take your best quote to them and see if they'll better it. I did and am paying £1,200 less compared to last year's premium (that's right - that's the difference on a consistent basis)

After a quick phone call and some genuine re-alignment of the quote criteria, I have saved £320 !!!

I guess 1st September must be a popular time. I just switched underwriters from RSA to Groupama and reduced last year's premium by circa 40% and increased my no cost EU cover from 30 to 365 days, still with same broker (A-Plan) though.

Details:
1yr old C2S + circa £10k options
4yr NCB
No points or accidents
£500 xs
Fully comp, garaged, tracker, no commuting.
Premium £640

Could I have done better? Any one had experience of Groupama I'm still in the 14 day cool-off period so not too late to change.

I deal with A plan at Thatcham but no particular person in that office - they are all very helpful.

My schedule also requires the car to be garaged between 22:00 and 07:00 if within 1/2 mile of home.

I tried moneysupermarket.com and confused.com, moneysupermarket gave ten + quotes some of which were very competitive but confused only came up with two expensive quotes.

Sounds too good to be true and probably is.

You must be 1000 years old with 983 years protected NCB ?

Try Performance nsurance - they just came in at £550 with £500xs on my 987S - they use a special scheme for Porsche which uses Porsche apprved repairers should the worst happen. £100 cheaper than my renewal with the club / A.Manning scheme and less than half what Porsche Insurance quoted !

I've given up with A-Plan - they either don't bother calling me back or when they do they come up with silly figures - perhaps they are better if you are local to them?

Totally lottery isnt it.

None of the above mentioned brokers can get anywhere near the premiums I pay with Direct Line for the same level of cover.

6 yrs loyalty perhaps ?

In the past Direct Line had a vehicle value limit of £75K I seem to recall, but I couldn't say if this still applies now.

Adrian Flux were pretty good on new quotes but seemed to not give a damn on renewals. Instead, recently got a quote from A-plan as above and managed a £500 drop. So, happy all round.

Actually, i liked the way the lady (Amy [;)]) mentioned that if there was something i didn't like about the policy, or an additional item that i may require then they will work something out. It all sounded very reasonable. Stark difference to all the other big boys out there script reading everything off-screen and making their targets.
