Insurance

I've just insured with !st Central. They seem excellent. Their contact number is 0845 194 9930. If they can't help, try www.moneysupermarket.com which has 60 plus companies.

I'm with Porsche Insurance through Porsche GB - £393, which I thought was good and it is actually Norwich Union. Recently hit £1300 worth of badger(he walked away too!!) and it was handled brilliantly through Porsche Approved bodyshop, lifetime guarantee of work - only thing I had to do was sign 'satisfactory' on collection - A1. You pays your money!!

Having sung their praises I have just received their renewal quote - £565 - yes, 44% increase - outrageous. When queried I was told it was as a result of the (£1054) claim - "but it was only a £1000, and it was the badger's fault" I pleaded. In reply I was told - "it doesn't matter if it's £10 or £10,000, it's the claim that counts". And "protected' NCB just protects a discount off a much higher figure!!
The moral is - if you're going to claim, make sure it's a big one - if you claim £200 your premium still goes up by £172 !!!! It seems that assessment of risk doesn't come into modern car insurance.
I've shopped around & have a quote from Peart(see Porsche Post) for £422 incl. B/down. Legal etc so that looks like a goer. And you can use Porsche approved repairer if required.

Try A Manning as well - they've been good to me.

Incidentally, you have the right to take your car to the repairer of your choice no matter WHAT the insurer says their policy or preferred repairer is.

Helllo Mark,
Yes, I did ask Manning to quote - £705, so unfortunately not very competitive. Adrian Flux came in at £400, which was good, but that excl. recovery/b'down which would put another £52 on it. Interestingly though, this was with Aviva - my current insurer, who are now uncompetitive, at £564, through Marsh/Porsche. This car insurance game is strange!!

Try Heritage, my quote was £385 (Aviva policy) 06 2.7 Boxter, Fully Comp, with RAC Gold Breakdown and Euro cover. Easy to deal with, and, you actually speak to a human!!! It took 25 mins. Contact details in Porsche Post [;)]

Just been ringing around myself as mine comes up towards the end of July. So far Manning are the most expensive (but actually the most comprehensive when it comes to repairers, track days, etc) and Classic Line the cheapest (by far). Adrian Flux, Performance Marque and Heritage to ring next...

To some extent, you get what you pay for. Admiral are absurdly cheap (especially if you put two cars on the same policy), but they must be for a reason.

got mine through autotrader with aviva @ £270 inc protected no-claims,legal protection, excess £250, have over 10 years no claims and am 41 years old..think i did it through confused.com after using martin lewis website..

Search for Admiral on the forum and you'll find why. They basically don't cover the full value of your car - in fact you might find yourself uninsured.

As for A Manning. I am insured with them and they have been consistently helpful. In fact when I needed to make a claim (my roof got sliced open by some lowlife in Corsica), I had a problem with the policy wording saying one thing, and the Insurers saying something else (the "intention" was not what it said apparrently!)

Rather than the long drawn out argument I was getting ready for, Ann Manning herself got in touch with the underwriters, pointed out the policy said such and such, and got them to approve it.

Don't underestimate the value of having a decent insurance broker you can actually deal with, rather than some faceless call centre.

Hi
I am with Performance Direct and they have also just insured my husband's GT3 with the best quote and European full cover.

Not quite the same vehicle - my Boxster is 2000 3.2S.
Cheapest quote last year was from Endsliegh at ~£450
This year (looked to renew only yesterday) cheapest quote is Direct Line at £340.

Thanks will give them a try I suppose its my post code (central Birmingham) despite haveing the car garaged behind security gateswith cctv and security patrols!

Im 56 clean licence full NCB, garaged at night, not business use, 3.2s Admiral last year charged me £405.

Or try Saga I paid about £500 last year with business use and unlimited European travel.

Otherwise I've found Pearts to be good on Porsche.

Where are you? It sounds as though something is bringing up high risk, is it for daily driver or a second car?

If the latter then it may be best to get a limited mileage policy with no NCD allowance.

Just spotted this thread on Pistonheads:

It's more of a lottery than ever ... just have to shop around. For me Adrian Flux were the best deal this year.
