Hi All,

The insurance is due on my boxster and just thought i'd ask for any recommendations for good insurers.

Thanks
Dave

Elephant has always served me well. This year I got a second motor and they referred me to their sister company admiral for a multicar policy.

A-Plan at High Wycombe (which specialise in High Value Performance cars) seem to always do me a great deal

I also took out a multi plan policy with Admiral Boxster 2.7 2006 and MB CLK 2001 total premium £302.00 all fully comp. protected .excess £250 The Boxster premium was £186 If I insured it on it's own would have been £220 ....Saga was the next best at £259 for the Boxster on its own.So age has it's rewards [:D]

He said good insurers - not cheap ones! [;)] I'd recommend going through the ones in Porsche Post or the specialist Porsche magazines first. They are more likely to insure you properly (including all your extras) than the bargain bucket insurers.

I agree with Mark - cheapest doesn't necessarily mean best and some insurance companies will not cover options, even factory fitted ones, so be careful and ask specifically if everything is included. If you thinking of doing track days, some of the insurers who advertise in Porsche Post will include cover for them in the policy. Look for quality as well as cost.

I use A Plan too: A-Plan Private Client Insurance - Tel: 01494 427900| Knights Templar House, 38-42, Frogmoor, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire HP13 5DH Also worth looking at the various cashbacks via Quidco and cross-checking with confused.com[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

Thanks for the advice. I am currently with ClassicLine from Porsche post and the renewal is £520 thats for a 40 year old with 3000 miles a year and i actually think thats quite good. I was just getting ideas to see i fi could get something slightly cheaper. As a compariosn Norwich Union were £2000. [:D]

I also use A-Plan and what you have to be careful of with the cheaper companies is they will send your car to their own repair specialists where as the company A-Plan insured me with will only use Porsche approved specialists and will give you a Boxster or Cayman as a courtesy car whilst your car is being repaired regardless of fault, I was really impressed with their service.

your location mileage and age aren't dissimilar to me, so try A.Manning for their Porsche Club scheme (tel # in Porsche Post) or performance insurance (also advert in PP)

I'm with Porsche Insurance through Porsche GB - £393, which I thought was good and it is actually Norwich Union. Recently hit £1300 worth of badger(he walked away too!!) and it was handled brilliantly through Porsche Approved bodyshop, lifetime guarantee of work - only thing I had to do was sign 'satisfactory' on collection - A1. You pays your money!!

My current comprehensive policy, with an excess of £250, sourced via "confused.com" with AA/Saga and an estimated annual mileage of 4,000 mi, cost me £344.65 (10 yrs NCB with 1 speeding conviction in 2004). If anyone can find a lower cost policy with an equivalent insurer, I'd be interested to hear about it.

I'm insured with Norwich Union through Porsche Insurance Services (an unfortunate acronym) operated by Marsh Ltd. The last premium was £396.50 for fully comp, with claims assistance, RAC legal expenses cover and an excess of £350. Living in rural Oxfordshire helps, as does being 50 something. BB

I am paying £420 with £300 excess. 6yrs guaranteed NCB. 38yrs old unlimited mileage and class 2 business use NIG through Adrian Flux

I've just insured with !st Central. They seem excellent. Their contact number is 0845 194 9930. If they can't help, try www.moneysupermarket.com which has 60 plus companies. Yours Chris Browne

When queried I was told it was as a result of the (£1054) claim - "but it was only a £1000, and it was the badger's fault" I pleaded. In reply I was told - "it doesn't matter if it's £10 or £10,000, it's the claim that counts". And "protected' NCB just protects a discount off a much higher figure!! The moral is - if you're going to claim, make sure it's a big one - if you claim £200 your premium still goes up by £172 !!!! It seems that assessment of risk doesn't come into modern car insurance. I've shopped around & have a quote from Peart(see Porsche Post) for £422 incl. B/down. Legal etc so that looks like a goer. And you can use Porsche approved repairer if required.
