Introduction + Runs Out

Hi, new to this Porsche business having just left the elise fraternity with its crumpled overnight bags (bin liners) and towels to soak up the roof leeks[]

Hoping to get into a few 'runs out' in the new car. I've been lurking around all the porsche forums and driving about for the last 3 weeks and have noticed 3 things.

- Porsche owners don't get let out of junctions as much as elise owners[]
- Porsche owners don't wave[:(]
- There doesn't seem to be any impromptu runs out[&o]

So, Chris N and all, I don't think we can do much about the first 2 but the third is up to us. I'm hopefully coming to the next meet and will put myself down for organising a run out. We probably did a dozen a year in the elise as Yorkshire is probably the most active area. I think its because we all got in at the start of the Elise bug so we may be suffering a disadvantage with these historical German cars.

Either way, how about N.Yorks area from Wetherby to Richmond to Tan Hill and scenic Return. I'll plan the route with printouts and coffee/lunch stops and see how we go. I'll leave the date up to you Mr Chairman! Anyone interested pls post here and i'll refine what looks like the start of a plan.

Finally, if anyone sees Jayne and myself out in a Black Boxster S (J500BOX) give us a quick wave - we mere Boxster owners can feel so unworthy........

Love the idea of a wetherby / richmond / Tan Hill run out as this is on my home ground. If you need any help with route idaes up in this neck of the woods let me know ( always good to include Masham - Leyburn - Reeth )

Assuming the weather is good I'll be out im my car too (these early 911's don't like the rain [;)] )

A quick reply so signs are looking good. All 3 of those already on the probably list - i think a shortened loop may have to be included for 'heavy lunchers' or late risers!

Yes a good idea I am happy to join in--as long as there isn't horizontal rain--I am happy to arrange a drive up the Wharfe valley--along Wensleydale and down to Ribblehead--it is a good run with some great roads and view

Hi Wayne - enjoy the car.

I'm sure Chris & Jacqueline will be glad of the suggestion and I'm up for it subject to other commitments.

Cheers
Ian

Count me in Wayne,
I've been in the PCGB for the best part of a year now & the runs are a bit
few an far between.
I don't think a run has to be to a car related event as most seem to be.

Just a blast up to the lakes & lunch would be nice for example. The route via
Hawes & Kirby Lonsdale is ace![;)]

me and mine will make another one, depending on the date. unfortunately have to work some week-ends. any suggestions????

regards, glenn.

Thanks all for the interest.

A date in October looks a good start. I think it will be much better on the roads after all the Summer drivers have locked their MX5's up[:D].

If I could have an idea where people are then i could pick a start point. Just a single word post straw poll style might work.

I expect that it will be something like the following though.

Wetherby Area/Scotch Corner Services start with bacon sarnie perhaps (butty wagon at wetherby Ok but ladies might not like the toilets facilities).
Meander through North Yorks possibly to Lakes at a push dependent on Weather.
Late Lunch
Routes via A66 for those in a hurry or back through Richmond to Ripon/Harrogate area.

Let me know - i'll start a new thread when i've got enough info.

Wayne

I live in the Bedale area so either Wetherby or Scotch corner suit me.

But if the weather is bad (wet) I don't tend to take the porsche out ( these early 911's rust as you watch [;)][:D] )

I would be up for a run out as long as it isnt raining. I would be starting from the South Cave East Yorkshire area.
