Is it just me?

I agree that the world moves on,that 996's are incredible value for money at the prices now obtainable but for me ,the risk of major bills puts me right off plus it's nicer to drive the more classic car like the 964,or 993.Of course it's a Porsche but a "kettle" & a proper Porsche as they started life was never a kettle, but this whole argument applies to other cars-for instance devotees of the E39 BMW (& my everyday car is a 530D Touring (Remapped) just don't dig the replacement, according to their forum. Now when Gen2 997's get the right money,Iwould have one,but would want to keep the 993 when we get one to replace the 964 (which is now sold ).

The ideal solution with the 996 in my opinion would be to buy a 3.4 with a blown engine for circa £10k and then get Hartech to build it up as a 3.6 with their improvements making for a totally reliable 3.6 996 for 3.4 money. The rest of the car is bullet proof so not only would you get a lovely reliable car to drive around in for a while but I would think 12 months down the line you could sell a 3.6 with 10-15,000 miles on a new engine for £20k. Meaning you may even make a little money.
