Is randomly setting itself on fire a common feature in the 944?

When travelling in France a fire extinguisher is compulsory in the vehicle.

Nope, not true....... however a hi viz jacket is if you step outside your car on a motorway

I used to get a smell of fuel off mine and thought it was a notion to me.... Turned out to be the looped fuel pipe which passes over the rocker cover leaking down onto the engine....[] I was a very lucky barsteward indeed ..!

I was told by Agnews at the time that this was a recall item in 89-90 time .. ..!

Sorry to see your car like that ..... ! Dont let it put you off.... Buy the car off the insurance... Strip it and sell the parts.. Get another......[;)]

I have thought about buying it back from the insuerers. the main things salvagablge are everything inside and the back end of the car and sunroof. even has 944 mats in it.
I'm gonna wait and see what they say.

oh you should have seen the grin on my face when i receieved the offer from the insurers!!!
£3500!!!

So, all you need to do now is put £2k to it and get a tidy turbo.....

Do not buy a 'cheap' turbo - no such thing in the long run[8|]

I bought a not cheap but not dear one and have spent a further few £s getting it properly sorted and there are still some cosmetic bits still to do!

That's before I upgrade the front strut mounts to adjustable ones and fit some brake ducting for the track etc etc etc....

Still love it though[:D][:D]

Err are you going to negotiate?

NOT!

Well done

Good to see a satisfactory outcome

When mine was beyond economical repair payout was £6250 & bought back for £1150 iirc

Well you see I would like another 944 but ideally I want the turbo and I do have a list of cars I've wanted to own and drive at some time and it just so happens that the Honda Prelude is one of them, I can pick a solid one with full service history and in mint cond for about£2500.
I might be heading in that direction
