Is the 944 wide enough ?

I think that 968 RS turbo in the pics is not a real one but a replica. Alot of the engine components are different from the original - it also has its dizzy cap removed so it looks like the ignition is under the control of the ECU and that looks like a Linsay Racing fuel rail. This is what a real 968 RS turbo looks like:-

I have the original issue of Excellence where the build of the yellow car was detailed. I agree it looks good (even tho' it's a 968 [;)]), but to be honest I don't think the silver detracts overly either. A light colour so the fasteners are visible is the key in my mind.

JC - I like your enthusiasm, but bear in mind the group here is probably the most knowledgeable in the UK (arguably the world) on these cars and we have seen the 968 TRS and many others before.

Specific to the rear wing they aren't that expensive from Essential Styling (I have a genuine CF one) and the quality is fine. I assume your front splitter (which you'll note from the 968 TRS pics should be black rather than body colour) is non-genuine?

O.K this car is wearing the same panels and looks much bettter due to it being a race car...

I think though if you have the right colour paint and the right wheels then it looks realy good ... and much different to anything i have seen down the 944 row !!!
This is actually the kit I'm almost certainly getting if I do the trackcar. Nice and simple. Easy to replace parts. Looks good. You can fit 11's and 12's under there if desired. Yes I know that this could lead to being over tyred but this would be on a car that will warrant decent sized rubber no matter the downside. Oh, and it's pretty cheap too. [:)]

I think that there is a difference between road and race - on a racing car you want to be able to corner as fast as possible above all else so you're interested in maximising mechanical grip (and you'll have dedicated tyres for wet and dry setups) whereas on the road you are interested in many other things like ride, breakaway characteristics etc. I don't imagine it's possible to over-tyre a racing car, but it certainly is on the road.

Yep for sure Fen. I have 255 & 285s (f / r respectively) and often shod with R888's on the road and I love them, but they do tramline all over the place. They're noisy but then so's the car. I might lose a bit of top end speed but I have already sacrificed that with the S2 cw&p. The closer the car is to stock, the closer you should have the size that they came with I would imagine?

Alright Patrick , in reply to what you have stated "

Secondly JC, the vents in the RS hood are for drawing hot air out, not cool air in. Cool air comes in through the vents in the nose cone, passes through i/c & rad, and then out through the hood into a low pressure area. Plus it's sealed from weather. [FONT=rod transparent"]
I would disagree with this , as the vent looking from the front of the vehicle on the right hand side is there to draw cold air directly to the Induction air filter fitted to the Red RS pictures I posted ,the big scoop in the middle of this yellow RS is there so the air that is drawn in through the intercooler will exit from the top of the bonnet and creates less resistance under the bonnet keeps the air flowing nicely throught the intercooler . Once the air is drawn through the induction then it is passed through the intercooler to cool the air down further before going into the engine , If you look at the drag cars or the very famous film with Mel Gibson Mad Max , the Black Police car he drove with that big scoop on the bonnet was to draw cold air directly into the Super charger , and also the F1 Cars have that great big scoop above the drivers head to draw in Air ,On the 968 Turbo the induction Air filter is oiled up so should withstand a considerable amount of moister but suppose if it's racing around in heavy rain then might be an issue . If anyone from the racing scene can confirm this then please do thank you regards J.C

Haha, you're a funny bugger JC.[:)] Yup, as I said the central vent is the one that the hot air exits, not cool air entering. The 2 'NACA' vents are indeed inlets as you say.

Alright Fen , On the topic of this rare 968 RS apparently there were only 4 factory cars ever built , found this web site which is fascinating [FONT=verdana, geneva"][FONT=bookman old style"]http://968turbo.homestead.com/[FONT=verdana,geneva"][FONT=bookman old style"] There has been a posting showing that Black 968 Turbo S which I thought is a perfect car and if you like the 944's then it is only natural you like the 968 basically the same car with different headlights , rear bumper and bit's and bobs . I think the 944 is sexy enough just the way it is , no need for bigger arches or RS Style rear wings , the original rubber one is just perfect with the Porsche imprinted into the rubber ,I also like the bridge spoiler model , suppose from the beginning the 924 evolved to the 968 with the 944 in-between perfection !!! Best regards J.C [FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Just got a price for the wide arch kit and its not cheap, well not that cheap... $995.00 for the two rockers and four wheel arches, plus $495.00 for delivery to my home address....I have imported fibre glass panels from the states before and it ended up costing me a extra £198.00 after tax, import duty, and other charges...dose any one know if all the above charges will get charged if i have the delivery sent straight to my home address rather than the airport ?[:)].

Eh? Post 13 in this thread, you said: "[FONT=comic sans ms"]I have bought a full front splitter for my 944T and it cost £160 plus £60 to have it painted and I do like the Turbo 968 rear adjustable spoiler , but cost a small fortune[FONT=verdana, geneva"]"[FONT=comic sans ms"], now you say you don't think they need it? I don't really mind either way as it's a personal taste thing, I was just trying to help you out by telling you where you can find one that doesn't cost a small fortune.

I'm not a 968 fan to be honest. Particularly with the lights up I think they look like a frog that has had something poked up its nether regions, and as the TRS was built for a specific purpose it's a development within regulations, not the ultimate incarnation of the breed. For example it has an 8 valve head though the 968s all had a 16 valve engine, which was to reduce development costs and because it could make the power it was allowed to under the regs it was developed for with the 8v one.

My absolute favourite 911 is the 993 GT2, with the rivetted arches etc - this 944 kit puts me in mind of that and hence I rather like it[:)]

The guy that owns the 968 turbo that I posted a link to earlier in the thread has just uploaded a video of the car. It looks even better here than in the pictures so I had to post a link

Well spotted Peter. It does look bloody great I think. I would have liked him not to short shift as much in the video to hear it up high, but very nice all the same. I am almost certainly going for that kit to put on my trackcar as I think it looks sort of 'right' and it's cheapish too.

Who makes that kit Patrick? I can't remember seeing the brand mentioned before.
