Is this really worth £27000 more

At the slightest hint of sunshine, winter or summer, I take the top down on my wife's Alfa-Romeo Spider

Had a delightful drive in the car from Egham to Henley this morning....top down, of course!! [:D] Outside temp was +4Celsius.

I refer the honourable Gentleman to the new thread started by another member, titled "70 miles for no other reason than fun", and rest my case[:)].

p.s. Anybody know how Caterham owners cope? [&:]

I run a Superlight and it's pretty cosy on a cold day. Mind you, mine is in 'touring' spec - windsreen, side screens, heater. A woolly hat helps, but you don't have to dress at Millets.

In the Boxster or 996 cab, heated seats extend the no. of days that these cars can be used with the roof down, especially in winter.

Who said I care what people think? I may well run about Glasgow with the hood down in the rain with techno tunes thumping. I said people will "think" you are a fanny. If you dont care about being percieved as a fanny then good for you.

And I have never met someone who genuinely doesnt care what people think of them.

I ran a Superlight as well and can agree with Oliver that it is a pretty snug experience. The issue with a Caterham is that it is actually undrivable with the hood up. It buffets and is claustrophobic to anyone but the tiniest munchkin.

In the winter sunshine it's great. The heat soak from the engine through the bulkhead is monstrous, and while your ears will be teased with the wind chilled blast of the open air, your legs will be frying painfully in the footwell. I have driven my Caterham many times wearing several layers, a fleece, a woolly hat and a pair of shorts!

And as I stated he didn't drive 70 miles around a town centre!

rightly or wrongly driving in the winter with the roof down makes you look like a fanny to most people.

Only to those who know no better. I regret buying a hardtop and never use it.

Top down at every opportunity and f*** the begrudgers, I say.
