A geeky point: a 1989 Turbo is a '944 Turbo'. The 220bhp 1988 Turbo was a '944 Turbo' and the 1988 250bhp turbo was a '944 Turbo S' in most places, a '944 Turbo Cup' in France and a '944 Turbo with Special Equipment' /SE here.

This is what caused the S/SE confusion. [:D]

Did Porsche get confused when they printed 'Turbo S' on the front of the brochure then ?

Seems to me all the confusion arises on here as any checks I have done against possible purchases the model designation on UK cars come back as 'Turbo S' , I have yet to check out a genuine 88 MY Silver Rose/Turbo S that comes back as an SE on the paperwork.

Very similar options list to my MY91 Titanium 944 Turbo [:)]

Car looks very nice in the pictures

Rudds, the cars paperwork (V5) car description was subject to what ever the supplying dealer filled in on the form S/SE or whatever, mine does state Turbo S however, i have noticed that most 89 turbo cars that i know of and see come with the MO30 package ?
Yes OP 18" wheels look great but ruin the cars handling, i have Cup 1 17" but the car does feel more nimble on 16" originals.
Hope you look after and enjoy your new car, may the BOOOOOOST be with you [:D]

This isn't the first time that you have posted in such an unpleasant manner Paul. You will recall that I suggested that you take it up with Porsche GB. I am not confused 'here' and I owned an M758 car over twenty years ago.

From this road test, which used PCGB's press car (E868 FJM) and quoted PCGB's model name from the press release repeatedly:

There were several other road tests printed March, April and May editions of other magazines too, which all referred to the press release and all called the cars '944 Turbo with Sports Equipment'. I will concede that I repeatedly say with 'Special Equipment' which is incorrect, but this isn't a material difference. The S in Turbo S stands for Super, but the British and French importers elected to alter the name to something which they considered to be better suited to their market.

I cannot explain why they printed the Turbo S brochure without editing it, but suspect that it was a last minute alteration and it hardly mattered.

The fact that the car was sold as a 944 Turbo with Sports Equipment is a matter of record though, not opinion.

Simon, the tone of my comment was not meant to come across unpleasant and ask anyone who knows me and they will hopefully tell you I am far from that.

Magazines are written by journalists, they could be working on a Porsche mag this week and a gardening magazine next week, met lots of them through having features done on my cars, most of them know nothing about the subject matter.

You say potatoe, I say potato [:D]
