i've got one too

John,

No problem taking 986/996 on track. The only limit is that slicks should not be used as the cornering forces can overcome the "semi-dry" sump in these cars, with the result that the scavenge pumps have nothing to scavenge...[:'(]
Nothing to do with RMS.

Track days are also a great way of establishing what needs replacing next, as well. [8|]

Everything... If it doesn't break it's not modified enough.

I don't think you need to bother with the track to get RMS failure do you... [:D]

Now play nice boys [:D]

Oil leaks out of most cars (just look at car park floors). Mine has several minor ones, but none of them drip on to anything serious (apart from the undertray and floor) so an extra fiver of oil every 2000 miles is nothing to worry about.

Hope to see all new 944 owners at some Register events this year. Nick and myself have a few planned, and there are always short notice ones dreamed up here on the forum [8D]. Some examples are the F1 testing at Silverstone, Arnage corner at Le Mans, and the Rolling Road day we did last year plus there will surely be some track days with the 944 en masse [:)]
