Should i be alarmed? yesterday whilst stuck in traffic on the A34 in my 1989 944 lux with 140kmiles on the clock, when i tried to pull away in first gear the car juddered, i finaly got her to move but this continued, however when the car was cold (very cold) this morning she seemed fine. I have had something similar on and older car (not Porsche) I found oil on the clutch plate.
Has anyone else had this issue do you guys think the clutch is on the way out??. The clutch has never been changed.

Thanks for any responses, cheers[8|]

My first 944 used to judder if you were stop /start in traffic which turned out to be the clutch that needed bleeding as they are hydraulic not cable ran.

It's quite common for the clutch to judder after prolonged sitting in traffic, especially when it's hot.

Not on an auto [:D]

Our old Freelander would sometimes if one was enthusiastic around London.

I've found the same, I think this is one of the features of a 944 and is nothing to worry about.
Best regards,
Peter

Yep; the hearse doesn't do it. Neither did the Corolla sh*t mobile hire car in NZ.

Thanks for your comments I feel better now. I am realy enjoying my 944, last year I sold my 3.2 911 due to lack of use. I use my 944 daily and it's great, even in the snow it seem reasonably balanced.
Cheers

It was a little bit of a shock to the system getting into Heathrow where it was snowing yesterday. No snow in Devon, but it was hammering down rain earlier. Nice.

Obviously you haven't got great big lawn roller rear tyres yet, they'll unbalance you in the snow a treat. []

Oooh yes, almost brand new 265/18's (like under a week old) were fun on my cab one day when it snowed while I was at the office.

As an aside when I got the 964 out of the garage after 26 days earlier its almost new offside rear ContiSport was flat. Can anyone think of a better cause than it has a puncture and isn't repairable because of its speed rating? I blew it up and took the car out for a tootle around town and I'll check for lost pressure tomorrow.

Bad seal on those awfully old Cup 1 alloys. You need to get a much newer and more stylish set of Boxster Twists [;)]

Clutch judder could be one of the first signs of the rubber ring in the clutch breaking up. I'd be careful, if it starts juddering all the time on moving off in 1st, not just in queues of traffic on hot days- get your clutch changed, especially if the gears become more difficult to select. The original clutch with the big rubber centre can fail with a bang leaving you with no drive. It did this on my car after a year or so juddering, getting progressively worse. I'd say take it a little easy in the car and budget/ look around for places to get the clutch changed- or do it yourself! If the clutch judders all then time, not just in queues- thats the time to get it changed ASAP!
