Just a feeler....

...because I'm considering selling my wheels and would like to know roughly how much they're worth. They look absolutely fantastic, but when I eventually get KW3 I wont to go lower and having 10" rears on the back is not gonna let me! Plus, I'm quite a fan of the D90's and quite fancy getting a set diamond polished (think that would look great on a low, black car). They're all in good condition, but not perfect, and they have brand new conti sport contact N2's on them. Anybody interested or give me a good indication of what they're worth? Thank, bennyboy.

Hi Bennyboy, I would give you £100 to take them off your hands[;)]
Seriously though I may be interested if you want to give me a rough idea what you are after.
I have a set of cup alloys (and new tyres) as px if you like or buying them outright

Hmmm :) I like those Speedlines [:-] absolutely gorgeous but no good for me on a daily runner. I maybe interested in the cups though if you two end up making a deal [:D]

Random hero, did you pay 450 squid for some speedlines or for some cups? Dave K, what size D90's do you have? Perhaps Coca Cola could have my speedlines, you could have his cups and I'll have your D90's? (I'm after 8's and 9's though really?)!

I'm assuming that Random Hero means he paid 450 for Speedlines, but that has to be rims only? Mine have brand-spanking tyres worth over 600 quid for the lot! Making a nice round figure of £1000. How does that sound?

What type and state are your tyres in Dave? And how much do you reckon your tyre/wheel combo is worth? What about you Coca Cola?

Hi Benny,

I have Goodyear Eagle F1 225/50/16 on the front, Continental Sport Contact N1 245/45/16 on the rear. My predicament at the moment is that the front left is badly worn on the outside shoulder due to a worn tie rod which has been replaced also the Continental's are almost at the wear indicators.

I will be replacing them in the next week or so, looks like I will be going for Continental's all round which will be the best part of £500 (approx £200 for front pair, £260 for rear pair), same price as 17" tyres.

The wheels themselves are better than most I have seen on ebay although there are signs of bubbling starting to appear at the bottom of the spokes. The face of the wheels are almost perfect.

Considering the cost of the new tyres I probably wouldnt want to get rid of them for less than £650, I know that sounds steep but with brand new tyres you are getting the wheels for £150 ! I have looked at the completed listings on ebay to try and guage a price but couldnt spot any larger size D90's only the smaller ones going for between £100-£300 set.

Cheers

Dave K.

My wheels are in great condition with one (only)with slight kerb graze. The tyres all round were replaced 4 weeks ago fronts are perelli p6000 and rears dunlop sp sports(total cost tyres were £590).Ive always fancied your style wheels Benny so if Dave is intrested in making an offer for mine we can work out a suitable deal all round maybe. My car is 1986 lux so I assume your wheels would fit benny?

Dave, would you have an 'as is' price before replacing the tyres?

Hi Benny,

Car is a daily driver so whatever I do need to make sure I have a safe mode of transport [;)]. Did I hear someone mention P6000 ? [:D] Cocacola what exact type are your rims ? are they genuine Porsche (number stamped next to valve) ? also what size are your tyres ? I guess your after offers above £600 considering your tyre expenses as well [8D].

To fit the wheels with no spacers I believe you will need ABS hubs which came in on the 1987 models forward:

http://www.connact.com/~kgross/FAQ/944faq13.html (see section 14.4)

Cocacola I'm guessing your wheels are non-genuine with early offsets, if you confirm this then I'm out of the deal as I have late offset hubs.

Cheers

Dave K.

Dave the tyres are 225/45r17 91k fronts and 255/40zr17 98y rears.
The only stamp on the rim is jm 620kg I cant see any numbers by the tyre valve.[8|]

Benny, why don't you think you can fit 10" on the rear with KWs and lowering? This is mine with 10" rears 285/30 Toyo R888's and KWs. I have to say that your wheels look great on your car and I can't understand why you would want to swap them or trade them for D90s IMHO? Anyway hope I'm not scuttling any deals here, just advising you that you can fit 9's and 10's on a very much lowered car. In fact I know of a few that have 11's on the rear. 9's up front are a bit of a squeeze but you probably won't go quite as low as me so no probs.

In fact here it is when it was lowered even more and under some load.
NOTE: See the KWs keeping me nice and flat even at approx 5000rpm in a 3rd gear off camber corner. Nice KWs, Good KWs [:D]
