Just been informed of this car for sale

In the 964 Rs technical bulletin, there are very few extras listed,

Other than,

extended steering wheel hub

Model designation delete

Sports seats (non electric)

and finally......

Rollover bar (Z application).

I've no idea what "Z application" is?

I am surprised they would offer a full bolt in cage as an option, surely anyone who wanted a full cage would be pointed in the direction of the M003 variant?

Remember, in the period when these cars were launched, Porsche were having quite a difficult time, if you wanted a car, they would build you one!
 
X, Y and Z applications were part of the Exclusive Programm AFAIK.

The bolt in cage was a common choice for track use those days, the welded cage meant that dashboard and door-cards had to be cut irreversibly.

So the bolt in cage was a good compromise.
