sorry lots of pics, but I think it looks ok for just a foam & wash.

As Simon has said I dont think its wood, it feels and looks like it though, not my cup of tea [:)]

"interesting colour" does that mean YUK MY EYES, lol

It has a few body foibles so I was planning on getting a change of colour at the same time as sorting the rust etc.

I love the colour, and the teledials, although I would describe the steering wheel as interesting!

What wax are you getting? surely that will only go on the car after the paint correction and the claying? (can you tell that I may be getting a new hobby?)

Not at all, I think it's a good colour but it's always hard to tell in a photo. Do you know the colour/code? I'd keep it as it is, myself; any unusual colour makes it stand out from the more common 944 colours. [:)]

I like the paint colour , a nice interesting colour instead of the same old boring Black , White or Guards Red.

I'm sure I saw a turbo for sale in that very colour not so long ago.

Enjoy

Mas

its not going to be an instant thing with the fresh paint as I cant really afford it at the minute, so im going to be saving for a bit.

so yes I will be waxing it and claying it as is so it at least looks ok as is for a bit. Im getting some Autoglym HD wax as that is what I have used in the past with what can only be described as brilliant results, its slighly more expensive at around ÂŁ35 than other's but it goes on so easily and comes off without hard rubbing and the finish.... [;)]

this is the colour I will hopefully be getting, so not black etc. its going to be a keeper so it dosent have to appeal to anyone else.

I think it looks great in the current colour. But in that blue... wow, I think that would be superb!

Despite being a white '44 owner I love the rarer colours as well, but please regain your sanity and loose the "wood" steering wheel LOL

Keep the colour, very period, car looks very nice, save your money on paint and stick some 16" Turbo Teledial wheels on it......cool car !

Itll look awful in Riviera Blue! My last post is missing..... I'll see if is still on my PC.....

Agree with 944 man regards colour, too modern on a lux though Mark's turbo S track car looked great in Riviera Blue, just too modern on that car, but all said and done your car and your money.

Hi and welcome

Looks perfect as it is to my eyes (have worn glasses for 44 years[:)]) only seen one that colour before, at Silverstone Classic 2 or 3 years ago.

I'm with 944man and Frenchy, but whatever you do with it please keep us updated.

Cheers

Id leave the colour as it is (Granatrot LM3Y - Garnet Red). The steering wheel could well be real wood, but its a bit late eighties for me. Id re-fit the original Porsche wheel, or replace it with a leather Momo Monte Carlo or Prototipo: both of which suit the car (with the Monte Carlo being an option on some cars).

Is that Riviera or Maritime blue? Or, as Porsche tend to use the smae colour but change the name are they the same? If it's Maritime then it's a great colour, and no-one will argue as they're just wrong. [;)]

I'll still say keep it in that colour. A colour change is a whole league up from a full respray even, let alone just attending to the areas that need it most.

ORIGINAL: Frenchy

Marks car (and Neils) is Maritime Blue. I owned a 968CS many years ago, which was Maritime Blue. Ive always loved the colour, even when it wasnt a popular choice (hard to imagine now that it is appearing everywhere).

If you remember James, I was going to have my grey 944 painted in Maritime Blue (which is steadier than Riviera, in my opinion), but I didnt because it just wouldnt have suited it. I think that the same will apply here, even before the problems/compromises that the currently red body brings...

Found the whole snow foam thing very interesting,I think period is good personally, the turbo S track race car was Maritime blue not Riviera[:)]

Sorry Mark, Light Blue [:(]
seriously though great on a track car like yours but not on a "classic" just my tuppence.
