Just taken delivery of a 2013 Cayenne Diesel

Hi,
just taken delivery of my 2nd Porsche, already had a 2012 Cayman R - despite years of saying that I never would ;)
Traded an Evoque and couldn't be happier at this stage (200 miles and 1 day in so maybe give it time).
Any new diesel owners out there?

We have a Diesel on order but we did not wish to take delivery until January. The Dealer offered various incentives to take the car in December, but we have held out and are paying for the car on December 31st and it will have it registered as a 2013 car. The Dealer has agreed a good deal and is happy that he can squeeze the vehicle into his 2012 sales figures.

This may seem a bit petty, but when the car is sold, in some 3-4 years time, the buying in price of a 2012 car compared to a 2013 will be quite different. It is estimated that there could be a £3000- £4,000 price difference.

Did you manage a discount or free extras for taking the car in November ?
 
yeah, thanks for the thought Tony but I'm a seasoned car buyer ;) we got a few trinkets thrown in and a healthy trade-in plus a discount. I'm happy with the deal we got, just glad to be iin a quality product again ;)
 
Mime's a few months old now, and no complaints. Not the same without the V8, but rather more 'Eco' to run.
How does yours compare with the RR and what spec did you go for?
 
Evoque was a 2.2 S4D Dynamic, slow but a reasonable drive. Spec of the Cayenne was pretty standard, other than PCM/phone, upgraded seats, elec tow bar, privacy glass and 19" wheels.
Liking it a lot so far, has a similar feel to our old RR Sport V8 (only without the breakdowns I hope!).
Planning a trip to the dealer in a few weeks when he gets his C4S (new) on teh road......may be my next purchase in a trade for the Cayman R but we'll see........said I'd never buy a 911 as I like my mid engined cars, not driven a modern 911 (drove a couple in the 70's, one in the 80's and a late 99 version) had a drive in a friends GT3RS about 3 years ago and thought it was a little nervy for the road (definately a track car).
 
The new 991 is a world apart from the older cars and dare I say the GT3RS which, as you say, is a proper track focused machine. Not tried the C4S yet, but on the evidence so far you'll enjoy your test drive.
 
I have a new diesel in Dark Blue Metallic and had it 2 months. Went a bit up market with the options and it is worth every penny. I read a comment in a road-test report that went something like "it is everything in a car you will ever need" and that is so true. Drive one, if you can - you will see what a great vehicle it is. As for the V8 - I did consider holding back but to be honest, on our roads in the Cotswolds, I would not be able to use it. Granted, it would be sublime on European trips but then again I am getting 35mpg after only 3500 miles of use - can't beat that. Can't praise the car any higher for what it delivers.

For me, it's more about range advantages and not having to fill up every day!

Plus the petrol counterparts are much more expensive to buy in the first place - well at least in my case:

...so the diesel has the same 0-60 but 9k less and 8mpg better. That a big saving at 0 miles :)


 
I was going to do the maths but then I thought of a word that makes cost of ownership of a diesel so much less than the petrol....

The one we have on order will be used as a 'Company Car' by my daughter.

The Benefit in Kind on a loaded Diesel will save her over £200 a month in Tax compared to her current GTS.

Assuming we change it in 4 years time, she will have done over 60,000 miles, if she does a similar mileage as her 2008 GTS has covered.


 
That's clearly a worthwhile purchase then. Lucky daughter!!

Just wanted to make sure people were aware of the sums. On the face of it the diesel looks to be the ideal purchase but that is not the case for everyone.

Slightly off topic, but I was talking to my OPC today and they said their S Diesel demo is not coming until Feb 13 now.
As they sent me a newsletter only last Saturday which states deliveries from Jan 13, this seems to have been delayed already. AleX, I hope yours is still ontime[;)]
 
Finally have a confirmed build date of 11th Feb :)

I am #1 on OPC Reading slots.

S Diesel is apparently all sold out until September+ now.
 
Im new to this forum. I'm in the throws of ordering a 2013 Diesel Cayenne but Im completely unsure about the suspension. I have driven one with air suspension, but I do not need the ride height advantages etc and was considering conventional steel suspension with PASM, but to date have not been able to find one to try. Can anyone give me their considered opinion please.
