Karting - Wroughton - 28 February

Excellent. We just need another 4 people minimum to make it viable. It's a few months away so there's plenty of time to persuade a few more folks to put their hands up.

Fancy a karting evening? There are two decent indoor karting circuits at Swindon and Leamington Spa, both offering evening arrive and drive sessions. The cost for a qualifying session followed by a 30/35 lap race is around ÂŁ40 per person depending upon which circuit is used. To run a session a minimum of 6 people are needed. We're think about a weekday evening (Monday - Thursday) sometime in September or October. Anyone interested?

Following the response and recent discussions, it sounds like we've almost got enough interest to go ahead with a group session at [link=http://www.swindonkarting.co.uk/]F1 Karting[/link] (near Swindon). The circuit is housed in a very large hangar on the old RAF Wroughton base and is a fast 550 metre indoor tarmac track. We'll be driving Honda-powered [link=http://www.sodikart.com/en/kart-gt-2.html]Sodi GT2 270cc Karts[/link] (these things are fairly quick maxing out at around 60mph). The session will consists of a 10 minute qualifying session which is followed by a 30 lap race. The quickest in the qualifying session will start at the front of the grid. We need a minimum of 7 people to go ahead but if more want to come along they can accommodate a maximum of 12. Dates available are: 11 October - 11:00 18th October - 11:00 25th October - 11:00 Cost will be £40 per person with a 50% non–refundable deposit required in advance from each participant to secure the event/date booked. Those who have indicated they want to participate so far are: 1. James Brickell 2. Graham Simons 3. Alan Bartlett 4. Mike Stickley 5. Derek Sharp 6. Stephen Drummond We just need another 1 driver. Anyone else interested? Alan

Hi Alan The 13th Sept doesn't seem so good now as there is a Porsche event at Upton House just down the road. I know it was a place we talked about in our meetings too. Very nice place. Thoughts? Graham

Hi Graham, my thoughts too. As the Upton House Register Rendezvous is on our patch, I think it will be better to postpone our karting event for a few weeks and support this on the 13th September instead. I will contact Karen at F1 Karting and ask her for some alternative dates. We can discuss further when we next meet. I hope everyone else is in agreement with this.

I spoke to the circuit and the dates they have available are: 11 October - 11:00 18th October - 11:00 25th October - 11:00 The 25th is good for me, how about you guys?

I think we might need to get some dates in November, as it looks like being a challenge getting a suitable day in October for everyone who's expressed an interest.

Alan I would like to join in, numbers permitting. I cannot play in October though. November better from my point of view. Thanks Brian

After checking people's availability it looks like we're going to have hold over our karting event until January. We'll be posting some dates soon. These will be for a Saturday morning which will hopefully work for everyone who's expressed an interest. Alan.
