Kettle Kemmel Spanker! Simples....

This is actually a very serious debate in my view. OK we have the the true pedigree factory cars, which we will always cherish and track and ploish and will climb in value as true factory original cars, among the them the, N-GT, Cup, RS/RSR etc and nothing can replace that. Porsche did make a 964Turbo race car and a fleeting road version the 964Turbo S, a true lightweight, carbon panelled monster road car with 360 BHP same as a GT3 MK1 but without the extra weight and with the soul of a hairdryer. They made very few of these and are worth fortunes in the World of the Leichtbau. Well a very common opinion held in the pit garages is that the Kettles do it on the straight and the Hair Dryers spanking them with late breaking in the twisty bits. Not rocket science here boys. To maintain the true air-cooled feel of lightness and feed back, start with a 964 stripped out. Then stick a 964/993 Turbo in the back simples.

seriously it's not if everyone wanted stripped out 964s with turbo power everyone would have been buying 964s, stripping them and putting turbos in the fact NOBODY has is proof enough nobody wants that driving a turbo is a totally different experience I don't think anyone with a 964 or RS cares that a GT3 is faster in the straights? That's not the point? it is, so? Sure the GT3rs boys don't care that the GT2 is faster in the straights.... HORSES FOR COURSES :)

So a link to Mat 65s car - which is effectively an RS with a turbo - for that very reason! I think in period there were a few cars like this, were there not?

Beg to differ John, we are talking here about a stripped out 964 with turbo power compared to say a GT3 as they carry similar power or in fact could be any Porsche carrying 360ish BHP ... sorry if I have disturbed your supper[;)]

Maybe it should be in the 964 forum then not the 964RS forum? Des you're desperate to stay here....are those GT3 boys a bit boring?[:D][:D][;)]

Jason, I don´t know what it is / was like in GB. Over here it was popular to have 964 RSs (or stripped 964s) with turbo or Biturbo power in the 90s. I know two cars myself. One was wrecked on track some ten years ago (original mint green RS), the other one is for sale right now. http://home.mobile.de/home/showDetails.html?id=123871232&__lp=1&scopeId=AV&sortOption.sortBy=makeModelDescriptionSortField&sortOption.sortOrder=ASCENDING&makeModelVariant1.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant2.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant3.searchInFreetext=false&siteId=GERMANY&damageUnrepaired=ALSO_DAMAGE_UNREPAIRED&export=ALSO_EXPORT&grossPrice=true&customerIdsAsString=467204&lang=de&pageNumber=1&partnerHead=true&showZip=false&showModels=false&hideVehicleType=false Rgds, Hacki

Hacki - 2 cars does not make 'popular' [:D][:D][;)] Don't bite Des's 'oh these GT3's are so much quicker you need Turbo's bait.....' [;)]

Sorry, I´m German.[;)] Actually there were some Biturbo cars around those days, and some garages offered these kits - whatever happened to all these mongrels......

RUF made the RCT. Precisely what is discussed here. Also, it is claimed that the RCT was RUF's favourite RUF car.

Oh yes, but the RCT was a 964 RS with a turbo engine.

The point was that the way forward might be more power (maybe turbo) for the 964 RS for track work. It is clear that the original chassis can absorb more power given that the minute power increase of the RS over the carrera 2 did not overcome the comparatively greater increase in the capabilities of the chassis. RUF exploited that and gave the 964 RS a turbo engine (360 bhp) and a 6-speed gearbox. Others put an RSR engine in an RS shell on 18 inch rims. These kind of power/chassis improvements make the 964 RS better on the track--try Pouhon double left at Spa with 17 or 18 in rims--or Kemel with original or RSR/turbo engine and the point will be clearer [;)][;)][;)][:D][:D][:D]
