Hi
You can probably tell from my previous post's that I'm the new owner of a 944 that has a few "issues"!
This is my first 944 and was bought in "the spur of the moment" well, not exactly spur of the moment 'cos I've been considering getting myself a second car that would be a bit more fun than my Mondeo estate (that ain't hard!) and after looking at the car for the first time, I did a lot of checking around cost's and work involved, the end result being a nice, shiny 944 sat on my drive with, as I said earlier a few issues!
Heres the rundown.....
Car is a 944 lux, registered early 1994, 5 owners, owned by previous owner since 1992, previous owner is not "mechanically inclined" so most of the work that has needed doing during the time he's owned it has been done at local (to him) garage including services, cam belts etc. The mechanics at the garage I collected it from said he'd have it looked at for the "slighest thing" The fact that he'd owned it as long as he had, swung it for me!
The car was stolen and as a result had the ignition switch wrecked, now fixed, it also has a clutch problem, I budgeted for the "worse case scenario" here (after much consideration!). The other faults include a damaged heater switch (got one on e-bay for £6) damage to the front and rear wheel arches below the hammerite, cill line, probably done when being recovered onto a trailer (very easy repair), the front torsion bar has been pulled out of it's bushes, again, probably done when being recovered and having the winch attatched to it. The drivers seat is worn and some small, minor interior items need tiying / repairing and it just needed a good clean. The paint work is better than my Mondeo, it's moonstone blue and is fitted with teledial alloys with good tyres
It's MOT'd till May, starts first time, run's great, sound sweet, keeps good oil pressure, and put's a big grin on my face when ever I walk past it!
Don't ask me what I paid for it, it's sufficient to say it was "as cheap as chips"[
]
Going to keep me busy over the winter though!
I'll post some pics when I get chance to upload them
Be prepared for an onslaught of questions!
Tony
