Did i miss something?, where did I mention a cage, when we started with Guide Dogs back in 2001 they never used cages, but as time went on and the damage caused by the pups cost them more and more, you now cannot have a dog under 9 months left on its own in a car or house without being caged, and you are not allowed to leave them for more than 3 hours period.jasonp said:

thanks for the latter part of your message,,,,,,i have found most dogs to be greedy so with some labs having a genetic imbalance that makes them perpetually hungry is also a point to take on board,,,,,,

More a dog thing than 944, but don't be put off using a crate with a puppy. We recommended it to people who bought our pups: the pup learns it's their safe place, and others can be told to leave the puppy alone when it goes to it's crate. They quickly learn that they can retreat to it when they are tired, and it's a secure place when they are alone in the house or at night.
We found the feedback was very positive, with the dogs that were crated settling faster in to their new homes, being less trouble at night, and loving the crate, in the car or at home, as adults.

Yep, they’ll jump into anything - especially if it’s lovely and smelly too.
Our old Lab liked nothing more than making a B-line for the nearest compost heap in our local park, rolling joyfully in it and returning to you in a disgusting state [&:] ... good times, actually.

take him to Fishers Green and he would take a flat out running jump into the lake off the end of the jetty, strange things animals, then try to chase the ducks, that were just staying out of reach to tease the hell out of him, yes good times indeed

Coming up to 48 hrs with the puppy

But he is biting everything,,quick learner but testing everything out,,
He even had a nibble at the armrest in the r32 and he was in the back with my wife on the way home
I don't think I can let him near the s2,,,
So it may have to go ??s2s not good if not driven regularly imho,,,jasonp

1 pair of slippers and 1 training shoe
various underwear,,,
sofa leg,,,,
dining room table leg...
x2 dining room chairs,,,
x5 motor mags,,,,
1 whole draught excluder,,,,,,
1 pair of adidas flip flops,,,,etc,etc,,,
Not forgetting he jumped up at the r32 and put a 6inch scratch on pass front door,,,little claws are so sharp,,,,,,,,
Need to face facts so my s2 will have to go for the next couple of years,,,,my immaculate pinstripe velour will last about 5 mins with this little fellas needle like teeth,,,,,,
s2 will go up for sale this week and a big discount should any forum member want the car,,,,,,,,
just as the car is running perfectly with all the work including niggly bits taken care of,,,,,
gutted but the pup will ruin it as he will be spending most of the time with me at the office or at home so would be in the s2 a lot,,,,,,

I've been reading this thread with much interest. I'm thinking of caving in to my daughter's pleas for a puppy and was wondering if sticking it by the front seat of my 997.2 turbo would be a massive no-no. I think you've all answered my question perfectly. The thought of watching a dog chewing on the interior of my beloved car would make me take an instant detour to Battersea!
How about when the dog is past the puppy stage? Would a dog sit happily in the passenger footwell once grown and trained? I'd probably be making the occasional trip out of London, which would typically take just over an hour.
