Larrys restoration

well its finished(ish) was planningon traiering it to ragley to show it off to everyone but they won't let me park it next to the autojumble (where i'll be)would have to go in the traders car park [] notto mention i dare say they would charge me another £15 for the tow car (making an extra £30 entrance fee on top of getting 2 other cars in) so i'm afraid this beauty will be staying at home on sunday[&o]

don't fancy parking my vauxhall miles away either asits useful to store things in and also run the fridge. so not sure i shall be able to bring much to make it worth while doing the autojumble as fitting it in a early 911 is a little limiting [&o]
anyway heres my NEW baby and very welcome she is too [8D]

Looks great Helen - a bit of final finishing off, and a good few coats of Zymols finest, it'll look fabulous...

The Club seems a little inflexible, don't you think? What you have done, seems to me to be in the true spirit of a motor club.
Any comments from the Board on this?

don't worry about it sailor, it (and me) be around for many years to come.

i would have had to find another driver for my 911t anyway, also not doing the auto jumble have given me more time to socialise with my friends and even do a bit of judging & prize giving [8D]

so they have saved me some hassel .

to what you see in the above posts.

on the way we have had blood sweat and tears plus loads of money spent.

but i have enjoyed the experience and can't wait to do it again. [8D]

now i am just waiting to drive the thing. [:-] engines in and working but Mike at Zentrum (Notts) not 100% happy with it yet, so is still working on it. then he'll send it for MOT, then WE can register it and only then can we drive it.

Well that looks like one beautifully restored 356 and should be fit for purpose for at least another 50 years+
Well done now go and drive your investment of blood sweat and tears [8D][8D]

Yes I am pleased for you both it's a great asset to you and the 356 community. Now I hope it and you guys get the respect for what you have and have done.

Well done guys..

Well done Helen & Larry.

Just hope you pop up to Ecosse sometime with it.

at the risk of showing my ignorance, whats at Ecosse ?

we love scotieland and visit a lot especially since my youngest daughter now lives at Auchterader

My role in the restoration was.

going through the 8 boxes of bits that came with the car, identifing the parts (not always easy) cleaning, baging and labelling them. if they wern't usable then i had to find and buy a replacement part. hopefully in time for it to be fitted []

here i am halfway through working on the shocks

we had a huge discussion about the value or not of up-grading the car to 12V. decided that as the car needed completly re-wiring anyway that we might as well go the whole hog. then realised that ment all the lights/instraments/battery (infact everything) would also need up-grading too. [:-] oh well its only money [&:]

but we couldn't (and wouldn't ) have done it without the help of friends. i won't bore you with all their names, they know who they are and know i shall be happy to be able to return the favour when called for.

for example:

the loan of a covered trailer was a god send, when we had to transport the (windowless) car, from north yorkshire to southbound trimmers. in some of the heaviest showers of the year[:'(]

Yes that is a great trailer, just glad you did share alot of the photo's here on the forum and the other forum..

So is the club going to offer a two page artical in Porsche post on the resto they should..it would be a worth while artical.
