Fancy Driving Roads like this? Well join us for a great day out, everyone's welcome!

The 912 register has organized an Autumn treasure hunt from Calais to Le Touquet for Sunday 8th October - a perfect day-trip destination for wonderful classic driving roads through villages and forest, and along the French coast.

Following the successes of the previous runs to Ypres and Reims, teams will navigate a route solving as many clues as possible. The meeting point on Sunday morning will be in Dover for a 9am ferry to Calais where you can open your clues and plot your route. Once in France, we'll meet for lunch and then again in Calais for the late-afternoon return ferry to Dover and prizes for the winning teams.

The price will be £50 per "˜team' of two people and will include:

"¢ Dover-Calais crossings
"¢ Treasure hunt plaque
"¢ Maps

Additional people/children charged at £5pp

Please complete the booking form and send it with a cheque for £50 (plus cost of any persons above the team of 2) payable to Porsche Club Great Britain c/o Stuart Downward at the address on the form and we'll send you an entry pack by mid-September.

Entry will be on a first come, first served basis.

Best wishes,

Stuart/Gavin

Well Jo and I have just canceled our stop over cos no one else was stopping over.. We had a room in Calis eg more time in France..... so where in Dover were you thinking..? any idea's are rates...? Jo might know a hotel that is part of the Holiday inn group.. just out side Dover...better for parking.......

I don't know Dover at all , i've only ever driven through the place before , but short of any other suggestions i was going to plump for here as it's fairly central , not on a major road , and they seem to have a decent size car park :
The Mildmay Hotel , 78 Folkestone Road , Dover , CT17 9SF
tel. 01304 204278
themildmayhotel@btopenworld.com

Just waiting for confirmation of the rate.

Juliette and I are not staying over in Dover this time (gonna take a leisurely cruise listening to the Japanese GP on Radio 5 live (6-8am...)), but in the past when we have we've always used the Victoria Guest House right near the castle in the centre. It's a small friendly sort of place, good hearty breakfasts early AM enough to get to the ferry and best, when I've told them I have a classic car, they've let me keep it in their garage just up the road overnight at no extra cost. Can't be bad.
