Le Touquet Tropy '06

I would say it would have been better to stay in France as per Gav's orginal trip..[&:]

Would be good to do a run to France and Holland ( catch up with some of the 912 buys there ) and then a run to Germany and then back again.....any one up for this next year!!!!! say about April / May time..low key eg you book the ferry and then we book hotels on the net as we go.. Eg camoneils ( sp ).. I know a great hotel in Germany with an underground garage where the cars are on racks and at the press of a button they disapear into the ground [][:D][:D]

Gav et al

I was going to come down the night before, but the girlfriend (navigator [&:]) is working late'ish on Saturday . . . so debating driving down early Sun morning (leaving at about 4:30 - 5am [8D]).

Two questions:

- I know the tickets and stuff tell me . . . . but there're not with me . . . . what time to we have to book in for the ferry?

- Are we going to try and meet up for lunch . . . or is it a free for all.

8.40 Ferry from Dover
Check in 1 hour before

We are booked in on Saturday at Victoria Guest House, including Garage. Luxury!

Booked in the most Luxuary Room , nearly broke the bank [:D] Garage space booked. All sorted..

We are rendezvouing at a secret location for a cup of tea, but apart from that everyone can make their own lunch arrangements. It seemed better this way as it might be difficult to get everyone together at the same time with all those clues to solve... we need to leave some time to get the duty free's in too... might be best to do this first if you want to be sure not to miss the Ferry!
But above all it's a fun day so if you want to potter around the route then that's fine too, you just won't win, but everyones a winner really! Gifts as well!
On Y vas!

lol []

I actually spoke to the guy... thinking I better check now[]

Must say those nylon sheets look rather special though...

I just asked that Gavin just booked and he said yes he did so I followed him...I will bring the burns cream incase of injury.. hmmmmm. Jo as a General Manager of a hotel is going to be a night mear on the ferry...

Did you see the room did you see the filing system they used did you see the way they spoke to new customers did....Jo shut up!!!!!! [;)][;)][:D][:D][:D]

It's cheap ( well for us on employie rate normally for 5* places. it's B****Y dear.!!!! I mean we had to pay ÂŁ34 a night to stay at Le Grand Paris for our 600 euros room ...a while back ) and right next to the port..I think? it will be fine... cheap and cheerful.

So who else is staying there????

Looking forward to it.......

Gav . . . .
Probably won't bring it anyway (as it's not mine) . . . . but thought I'd ask . . . . is there any restriction on Sat Nav?

Phil

I know . . . . sounds like I'm taking this very, very seriously.

I've had the engne rebuilt, a cage put in and she's on some wide rubber . . . . and that's just the girlfriend [;)].

I fully intend to be last . . . . .

you're welcome to bring the sat nav... it wont help one jot, but you're welcome to bring it!

And besides, it wont actually work - Gavin will be so charged from a slipery night of nylon-sheet static that all electrical appliances within a 10 mile radius will go beserk.

Oh, and "the cat accidentally managed to claw open the staples holding my clues in the envelope" old china definitely means you'll get the 'bonus clue pack' that sends you off in the one way direction of the Paris Periphique (...at rush hour!).

Stu

Hope the crossing is nice and choppy . . . .

I'm off line now until Sunday . . . so see you at the ferry . . . . not that anyone needs this, but my number is 07941 299 593 and call my parents in case of an emergency on 01603 125 85546 [;)]

Gav !!! What time you collecting your car?????? perhaps Jo and I could catch up with you on route..

What a fabulous day . . . . bloody brilliant roads . . . . some of the best, maybe the best, roads I think I've ever driven . . . . and all just off the ferry at Calais (you'd never know). Deserted, sweeping, undulating, hair pin bends they had everything (including a 50+ strong marching band at one point). . . . bloody brilliant.

All helped down with dollops of beautiful sunshine . . . . we certainly were blest.

A big thank you to Stu and Gav . . . . perfect. Here's to the next one, how do I book?

Phil

PS. Didn't really have time to take any piccy's . . . . apart from the contentious one of the Post Office door "" 1978 "" sorry Andrew and Tasmin.
