Leaking rear light

Guys,

I had exactly the same thing. Took both lights out and did a fab job of resealing no leaks in the boot or anywhere and they filled up again. I think the water gets in by some sort of osmosis! Anyway, A 1.2mm drill hole through the very bottom of the lens, the hole is invisible and no more issues. Even after all this rain we have had and the car is outside. Seems like the best solution.

Hmmm. I could drill the hole without removing the light, which is a prize faff and would be nice to avoid.

That solution is getting more and more tempting. >LooksLovinglyAtElectricDrill<

1.5mm hole drilled in bottom corner of light.

Surprisingly large amount of water dribbled out.

To keep things symmetrical, 1.5mm hole drilled in the same place in the other light.

Problem solved. £261 still in the bank account. Rear light colours match.

P.S. Thanks to Terry - T3rra - for his offer of replacement units. I hope they won't be necessary now.

I've successfully carried out that modification in the past... Somehow I now have a headlight that needs it!!! How on earth the water got in there, I do not know.

1.5mm hole drilled in bottom corner of light.

Good solution [:D] I did exactly the same thing to one of my rears in the old Turbo. Worked a treat for the next five years or so
