LMES Silverstone 13/14Aug

.

If we have the flag/gazebo it might help to identify the area and set the boundaries so that we don't have (in her words) a Ford Fiesta in the middle of the line []

The Region 10 Gazebo and flag pole will be at our Intermarque Gathering at Pulloxhill on Sunday 7th Aug (you're most welcome [:)]) and needed again on Sunday 21 August at the Regional Concours in Southam - if you want it for Silverstone, can someone take responsibility for it, collect it when take down this Sunday evening and ensure it gets to the Concours event in reasonable condition? Contact me or turn up on Sunday to collect.

Re: Silverstone parking - we have been allocated that area in the past (R10 has organised for several years), using a picket line of gas board or police tape to cordon the area off from the public and control access to a narrow gap. If the flag pole is used, it needs to be guarded (- risk of someone trophy hunting), but more relaxed about gazebo, if not next to the footpath or road.

I may go on Saturday afternoon, but cannot commit either way, so will pay on the gate and park where I'm told. Sorry I cannot organise/help out this year.

That's OK Mike. All Jacalyn at Silverstone wants is someone to report to her (I presume she'll be somwhere around the main gate) so she can point out the space we have. Beyond that we make it as professional as we like, but it sounds pretty low key.

I share Mark's view - I don't want to walk far to get my sandwiches, nor have to carry the amount of clutter required when out in the British summer []

Louisa at Club Office is not aware of any parking passes arriving from Silverstone. Does anyone know how to get hold of them ?

Looks like it's all collapsed because it happened too late in the day. Unfortunately Silverstone don't organise themselves until very close to the event so we had very little notice of what was going to happen until late last week. Plus there are staff on holiday at HQ and they don't have coverage to sort this out with no notice (which is not a complaint, I can understand that perfectly well).

sorry for getting hopes up [:(] perhaps I should have gone through the formal channels, oh well, next time....

I understood yesterday (Sunday) that Robin Walker, Register Director, had the passes and was trying to get hold of you to hand them over. I suggest you contact him asap. His details are in PPost.

Mike

Fingers crossed on the Passes [:D]

For those interested, the timetable is ---> HERE <---

This is a weekend event - the LMES is on SATURDAY - 4PM start and is 1000km or 6 hours.
British GT is on Sunday.
We're booked in to a PremierLodge in Northampton - anyone else staying over?

LMES Silverstone 13th 14th August.

I have recieved the infield passes for Saturday and Sunday from Club Office. They are too busy to send them out, as they are sending out the tickets and passes from today 8th Aug, for the Porsche Club Festival.

I am unable to help much because I will be on holiday from Wednesday.

Is there any one out there I can post the passes to, who would be prepared to hand out the passes at Silverstone on Saturday, and or Sunday?

Please e-mail me asap on register@porscheclubgb.com if you can help.

I have 35 passes for Saturday (the main event) and 35 for Sunday

I can't help much here. As I said in a previous post, I won't be there until late morning on Saturday (and not at all Sunday) so I'll pass on the passes [:D]

Shame it couldn't get together. I'll advise Jacalyn on Friday that we won't be taking up the space unless someone posts before then to say they can do the handing out (it's only fair to let her know if we aren't going ahead otherwise she'll be waiting to show someone the area).

Sorry I couldn't get this organised folks - I guess I should have used the official channels earlier, but until there was confirmation that there would be anything to organise it didn't seem worth bothering HQ. By the time it was underway, it was too late. []

I'm not sure when we will be arriving, but as we are a couple of hours away not 'till late-ish in the morning.
Want to get there for the 1st race though!

Want to get there for the 1st race though!

What, British F3? That doesn't do much for me. What is race 2 - CER ? Forgive me if I'm being thick, but I can not work that out.

Phil

I like F3!

Anyway, this is the replacement for the Spa round which was "fogged-off".
I didn't get to see them race there (either Sat or Sun!) so I want my moneys worth [;)]

I have the passes in my hand, they arrived in yesterdays post from Robin. What I'll do with them I have no idea as it's too late to rely on sending them out.

Phil

Could we arrange to pick them up from the entrance (the booth on the left in the carpark maybe? Then you can just leave them in the hands of a Silverstone employee, and as long as we say the magicpassword (RMS?) they hand one over...?

guys ! i will be there on sunday . and i did email to Robin about the pass. so what is the plan for the weekend?

you guys need any help?

I can bring the tickets on Saturday, but won't be there until mid-day. I can leave them with someone or at the main entrance. Have mailed Silverstone explaining predicament and asking if they can help.

As I can't get the tickets up there until I arrive on Saturday it looks like we aren't going to be able to arrance much for that day (unless we all go and move our cars once I get there [] and hand them out !!!). Or I cpould just hog the whole space to myself [:)] - wow, I'll be really popular.

Could be good for Sunday if I can arrange a drop-off, or a meeting point on the Saturday.

Have a copy of you e-mail Bazza. Keep reading the forum and we'll arrange something.

phil

We're running out of time to resolve this. I've had nothing from Silverstone but will check mail again later this evening. In the absence of anything else I will bring the passes and be at the pedestrian bridge where you cross to the pits - OUTSIDE the circuit, not in the pits at 2:15pm Saturday.

Best I can think of.

Phil

OK, no other ideas so I'll be at the foot of the steps that lead up to the footbridge over the pit straight at 2:15pm (outside of the track, not pits side). With 13 year old son, probably both wearing Porsche T shirt or PCGB rugby shirts.

I can hand out passes for anyone coming on ther Sunday to take away, and in fact if someone wants to distribute them on Sunday I have the following e-mail from Jacalyn advising where they can be collected (shame I didn't know about this before or we could have done it all this way [] )

[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
We will not be able to distribute passes from main gate, as this will disrupt the flow of traffic into the venue. We do have a ticket collection point within Car Park 49, which is the big tarmac car park to the left of the main entrance, however, we are not allowed to distribute tickets from here on behalf of a third party. My suggestion would be that you, or a member of the Porsche Club, bases themselves by the ticket collection point in Car Park 49 and distributes the passes yourselves from here.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Ticket collection is signed from the Dadford Road, and so vehicles won't have any problems finding this area. Please let me know how you are going to handle this. Many thanks[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Jacalyn[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I'll be there 2:15 Saturday to hand them over, see me if you want one for Sunday or are prepared to take a handful.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Sorry, best I can do. I'll get more organised next time. Won't be checking the forum again, so see you there.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Phil[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Will see you there Phil.

Can't you wear a pink carnation?

PS. If you bring the Sat Passes as well, then we can fetch the car and have somewhere nearer to store all our stuff whilst we walk round...?
