Lockton Car Insurance/Car Value Estimation

PAG ZERO1

New member
Hi Guy's
I am thinking about changing my insurance over to Lockton's later this year can anyone tell me if you need to have the car valued by a third party prior to any application, also after reading some of the threads its would seem that some members have had their cars valued by the PCGB but I cant seem to find the link anywhere on the web site ?
regards

Pete

I am currently insured with Chubb through Lockton's PCGB scheme. You only need independent valuations for the 'agreed value' feature of the policy. My experience is the club can take some time to provide the valuation (8 weeks from submitting application to receiving the valuation in my case) and whilst the car is insured in the meantime, they will only insure on a 'market value' basis which I think is capped at the new car's list price. My valuation also has to be updated and resubmitted at each annual policy renewal.

I'm insured with ClassicLine, they accept the PCGB valuation but it has to be renewed every 2 years. They also offer a valuation service themselves, but IIRC it costs ÂŁ25, and there's forms and photos involves.

Steve, this should be much faster now as the system has been improved. Although, it was known to take a lot longer than 8 weeks sometimes in the past!

Thanks for the update Paul and great to hear. For me, the more important aspects are knowing how long before renewal I need to request the valuation to ensure seamless continuity of cover whilst ensuring the valuation is recent enough to still be relevant.

ive just insured with Locktons the other day and I just looked on Piston Heads and gave them a verbal valuation, they agreed it and said they only need a written valuation if I want to up the value in future ?

Hi Guy's on the PCGB form it states the following :
" have enclosed recent photographs (not scanned images) showing the front, rear, left and right sides, interior, and
engine bay"
Question as many of us take photo's using our phones these days does anyone know if you can just print these out on a colour printer and send them off or do they have to be actual prints from a shop ?

I think they mean don't scan photographs, send in originals, but I'm sure you can just send off digital pictures via email.

Peter,

Email me the images and when your valuation form arrives I'll put the two elements together.

On your valuation form please write 'Chris Seaward has images' and i'll pass them to Steve when necessary.

Thanks,

Chris

I'm thinking of insuring my new C4S cab with Locktons. I'm wondering if they'd accept a valuation from Porsche Inspections, which pretty much matched the dealer value.

Hi Chris,
Just sent off all the paperwork and photo's " as requested " on the form which they have received today so will let you all know when I get a reply so hopefully it will be a quick turnaround as the PCGB web site says thing have been improved with getting these valuations ?

Hi,
The turnaround time is certainly quicker than before so all being well you'll have the valuation returned shortly.
As always, if you have any questions relating to the process just give me a call at the Clubhouse.
Thanks,
Chris

I have just asked Locktons to quote on a GT4 and they declined unless the car is fitted with a tracker which is not a standard fitment and most don't have fitted.

Geoff,

I am sure that is common for all higher value cars these days. There may be a warranty v non-VTS tracker issue because some Centres will question interference with the car's electronics, valid or not it is something to get cleared.

There is one supplier (who advertise in Porsche Post) who offer a standalone tracker that is not connected to the car's electronics which your insurance company may well accept.

Ralph

Ralph,

Thanks I will check that out it may sort the issue if its not silly money, it would at least give more options.
I am struggling to get insurance at a reasonable cost with track day cover.
I am with Mannings at present but they have increased the cost quite significantly.
Am I right in thinking a VTS tracker is a dealer fitment on the GT4 as it is on the Boxster GTS ?
It isn't wired, fitted but not activated ?
You are correct regarding warranty if I fitted a non Porsche approved tracker it would screw the warranty.
Geoff
