Lockton Insurance - Well Happy

Peter bull, yes, I think you should do that. Why has she got a user Id if she never bothers to post or, try and promote her
company? Tref', I really can't be bothered to argue with you lot, I really can't [8|]. All I was asking in the beginning
was, what was so great about their quotations etc. I can't be bothered to repeat my original post as it is there for all and sundry
to see. My point was some of these insurance companies advertise with car clubs and, set themselves up as some sort of ally but,
actually don't really do more than your average ic other than produce a nice shiny, glossy brochure! My original question
was "How good was their quotes and, what did they cover and not cover"? I'm not looking for a war on this boring subject []!! There are several ic's that post on the VW forums that I choose to visit that, are only too happy to chat with
perspective customers and, answer any questions on modifications, track days, European cover etc. So saving time for people
who, otherwise, wouldn't get time to ring them during the working week to sort out their insurance needs. Do you get my point
at all?? I really do hope so because, I'm sick and tired of constantly being on the "back foot" on this site, having to defend every post I make on here! I've had enough! Goodbye.

You really do come across as a very angry man, you should calm down a bit, maybe go out and have a drive.

Why not just give them a ring and discuss your personal situation with them, you will get a lot further than ranting in here. I am happy to say that I have my 911 and 944 with them for £349 a year with track day cover and European breakdown. Am very happy.

They are not snobby and I don't see not posting on the forum as being snobby, regardless of what they say online they would need to speak to you about your personal situation. You seem to be obsessed with the world being against you as a 944 owner, it generally isn't like that. Even if it was why let it bother you it's their problem not yours.

Locktons wont/cant insure someone who had twelve points (but no ban) even in the period between the 3years when they expired and the 5 years when they are on your licence expired, hope that doesn't affect too many of you!
Tony

Good Morning All,

Firstly, for those of you that do not know me, my name is Claire Manton and I look after the PCGB Insurance Scheme at Lockton.

I have just read through this thread and am delighted with the positive feedback that the scheme is getting.

I do log-on to the forum on a regular basis as I am always interested to keep on top of the feedback. If I ever come across any comments or feedback where a response is required, I would always reply to that indiviual via personal email as it would not be appropriate for me to comment on a forum. Please do not think that this is ignored in any way! I can assure you that it is not.

I am more than happy to answer any questions regarding our company and policy offerings and can assure you all that there is no snobbery going on here at all!!

Lockton spent a considerble amount of time working with PCGB to create an insurance scheme for its members which would cater for the vast mority of members although as you can appreciate, this is not always easy as different people have different needs.

Ex-Skyline - your comments are quitre open-ended and it is impossible for me to list everything that we will and wont cover as all insurance risks are underwritten on their owns merits. What we would cover for one person, may not be the same for another.

There are many benefits that as a PCGB member, you will get free with the policy and I have listed a few below:

Legal Cover
UK and EU break down cover including homestart and recover
Fully Comprehensive EU use
Agreed value
Track day cover for PCGB organised events
Choice or own repairer in the event of a claim
No mid-term admistration fee's
4 named drivers free of charge (subject to age/experience requirements)

These are the standard benefits that are included within the policy but that is not to say that we will not consider things not covered as standard. For example, the track day cover is for PCGB events only as standard BUT should you request a non club event, we will take the details and providing it is an event that we feel comfortable with, then cover can be agreed.

If there is anything in particular that anyone would like me to comment on, please let me know and I would be more than happy to do so.

I assume that ''Track days?, European (ahem....."Ring") cover?'' is referring to the Nuerburgring. Just to clarify where you all stand on this. The majority of insurance policy wordings in the UK will have a specific clause excluding the Neurburgring. What people do not realise is that this is actually a public toll road and your insurance policy MUST cover you for liability. This is only the case when the road is open. So if a company was to hire the ring for a day, this would then be a closed road and that is where no cover would be granted whatsoeever. It is only when the road is open and RTA in force when liability MUST be given by the insurance company. In all circumstances, cover for any damage would be excluded. I would suggest that if any of you are planning to use the ring that you speak to us first so that we can advise accordingly.

Lockton and PCGB are business partners and we have built an insurance scheme for the benefits of its members. This is a long-term partnership and for those of you that know me, you will know that we engage with our clients much more than most insurers. I have been working with Chris and Richard from the club and we have put togehter a calendar of PCGB events that the Lockton team will be attending throughout the year so I look forward to seeing some fo you there.

In the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions. I am on email 24/7 and my mobile is always on. Contact details below.

Kind regards,

Claire

So with everyone being impressed and happy, did they make a mistake with my quotation then I wonder?

Just coming off company fleet insurance and going private for the first time in over 35 years so obviously a big step and equally big savings

I am about to insure via Locktons but it was their service that sold them to me and certainly not there quote which was easily beaten by some insurers from compare website but I didn't feel confident with them too much online and not enough / any meaningful verbal discussions.  Bottom line was a difference of some 30% but what price can you put on ones gut feelings and instincts

Not from a compare website (that route has never worked) been with A-Plan for sometime now very happy with their service, help, efficiency and that all came about from the BMW car club.

+1 here for A Plan - I find them very good, especially if your 944 has been modified.....[;)]

I suspect that Claire's comments about the Nordschleife haven't come out quite as intended. UK policy wording is intended to exclude cover on TF / public toll road days.

In my experience insurers will regard an organised track day at Spa-Francochamps or the Nurburgring GP circuit or Nordschleife in a similar way. Its mental driving on public driving days where people expect fully comprehensive cover, and the likelihood of huge third party claims is high which they are trying to avoid.

Yes they have to meet their third party obligations, but what the EU gives the County Court takes away...

I was very very close to changing to Lockton's at renewal time as they were very competitive, I'll probably change to them this year (only reason I didn't was that I'd had a claim with RH so felt I should at least let them get another year's premium off me).

Having seen a picture of Claire in the shiny Lockton's brochure I'd be very wary of posting my mobile number on a forum full of men if I was her! [:D]

Just renewed for a second term with Locktons this morning, no complaints and happy to be insured with a scheme linked directly to our club, as others have said it shouldn't always come down to a price, it's good to be insured with a 'company' and not just a faceless website.

Cheers, Paul

I have received a broadly competitive quote from Locktons this afternoon, and spoken to a very pleasant lady called Anne. I suspect that I will remain with Classicline though as my current policy expires at midnight tomorrow, and there is a no claims bonus issue which cant be resolved before then. Without the bonus they would be £50 dearer then their initial quote (£10 dearer than Classicline's initial quote and £30 dearer than their revised price).

Hi Simon,

I will agree the premium with the NCD. Anne will call you shortly to confirm.

We will always do what we can to help guys, just let us know if what we've quoted is not competitive etc and if we can help, we will.

Many thanks,

Claire -Lockton

Well,well.....I see my post got the desired reaction. It's good to have insurance companies that interact with perspective customers
out of office hours. It shows they are semi human after all [:D]. Greenlight insurance as well as a couple of others, do quite a bit
of business on the T4 forum. Good luck to them I say [8D]. Just renewed mine with Mayfair Performance Insurance again.
Great Value, lots of stuff covered including all my mods [8D][:D]!!

I will suggest/recommend Lockton along with Classicline now.

Due to a schoolboy error regarding expiry dates I had to renew with Classicline (for another 364 days!), but I will call Lockton in good time next year, and also consider them for my other 944s. Had my insurance expired on the following day and not at midnight on that day then I may well have been insured with Lockton now.

Just signed up with lockton.

All mods declared, 5k mileage cap, garaged, ncd protected, agreed value, European cover, track day cover and a few other bits which I don't recall at the moment. All for roughly £80 cheaper than my previous insurer. The previous insurer did requote and get close to the price but were not able to offer ncd protection so went with lockton.

Had they offered the more competitive price in the first place, I may not have looked elsewhere. Funny way if doing business if you ask me.

Lockton were actually pretty good with replying to queries all the way through.

As said earlier in this thread I am into my second term with Locktons, I recently had my screen damaged, a quick call to Locktons and I was given the ok immediately to take it to my OPC for a genuine screen to be fitted. This was done on a Thursday morning and paid for by me, when I got home I emailed a copy of the invoice to Locktons, they forwarded it to Chubb who are the insurers, Chubb emailed me the next day and asked for bank details, money transferred to my bank that day.

I'm pretty sure a 24 hour turn round is as good as it gets, excellent service from both Locktons and Chubb.

Cheers, Paul

I wouldn't have said £208 was at all bad and, having had some really annoying experiences when making claims (not with Locktons), I have concluded that cheapest isn't always best. Cheap is great if you don't need to claim but a £100 saving can quickly evapourate if you end up phoning every man and his dogs uncle if you need to make a claim.

I had insurance on Terry with Barclays and it was a nightmare when he was rear ended. I can't remember how many people I spoke to but none of them had any authority, or influence, or responsibility. It would seem their only function was to ask you 101 questions and then transfer you to someone else who would ask you the same 101 questions but perhaps in a slightly different order, just for variety. They then did nothing other than ask someone else to phone me who would also ask the same 101 questions.

I got to the point of considering giving arbitary dates of birth, post codes and mothers maiden names just to see if it would make any difference.
