Looking for a 930!

Hi All,

I'm on the hunt for a nice late eighties 930 turbo and I was wondering if you guys could recommend any reputable dealers/specialists that may stock them?

I have a budget of up to £20K, will that be enough to get me a decent quality turbo?

Also, does anyone know of any buyers guides on the net?

Cheers,

Tim.

Good luck, in your search you will need it still looking myself for a good one. So much junk out there plus people are still asking silly money for there cars as well, all because of the badge on the front of the car.

Hi Tim,

Has the 924 novelty worn off already?
See you at Knebworth and/or the Husborne Crawley autojumble?

Hey Brian, long time no hear, how's it going mate?

The racing thing has not worn off, but unfortunately some changes in personal circumstances have made it difficult to commit to a whole seasons racing! I could have done a couple of guest races, but it doesnt seem worth keeping all the kit lying around the place.

So over the weekend I took the decision to sell up and start looking for another 911, I really missed my SC last summer [&o]

Cheers,

Tim.

it took me about 1 and a half years of looking before I got my 1985 911 turbo in Guards red with 54,000 miles on the clock , there is plenty of rubbish out there but it is worth the wait I probably paid a bit over the odds £22.5K but I think it was worth it to get a desent one.

I had a look at quite a few 930 cars and 964 turbo 2 cars between June and October last year and got fed up looking at so called concours cars which didn't meet my expectations.

But I didn't give up and patiently waited for the 'right car'.

Check out February's Total 911 magazine to see my 'right car' [:)]

I spent a day with Howard and the early one at a photoshoot last year. Howard is a great guy who knows his cars, no question about that. Thought the car was lovely but not outstanding, not £30k's worth in my humble opinion but then it's quite a rare thing I suppose. I have definitely seen nicer, better value cars for sale, not all by PCGB people mind you.

I know of one 930 that two years ago was potentially for sale but I'm not telling you about it buddy as if it ever comes up it's all mine, complete kids-on-eBay job, will live in it if I have to [8D]

I did hear a friend of a friend was going to sell their 4-speeder, think it's an '82 or '83 and needs a few minor bits IIRC but not bodywork, only because he hasn't put huge miles up on it in the 15 or so years he's owned it. Know you wouldn't mind getting your spanners out if the price was right so will ask if it's actually for sale or not.

Any preference on LHD/RHD, colour etc? What about Mark Trinder's red one in the 'for sale' section? At £16k it leaves you a bit of change for upgrades [;)]

Just thought, what about Adrian Crawford, he has had some beautiful cars for sale, though a lot of his stuff is LHD. His site is here (link is to his 930 page) and he can source a car for you no problems.

Another guy I spoke to about 930's before buying my old thing was Mark Pullicino at GT in Londinium - some great prices and really nice cars. Found some of his stuff sometimes needed small bits but his prices were great when I was looking. Nearly bought a 5-speed LHD 930 in black from him and it was a genuinely nice car (no regrets though). His site is here, you could do worse than giving him a ring and ask if he knows of anything. I note he currently has a pair of very familiar RS's in, he must have the keys to a hell of a warehouse at the minute [8D]
