LSD and MOT

Too bad I didn't ask this question before I changed the gear oil.....Looks like I will need to look into getting some LSD parts. So how easy is it to rebuild athe LSD with Motorsport parts, Paul? If it isn't technically difficult I wouldn't mind attempting it myself.

Its not along job,but you do need some mechanical understanding. Also need some one to look at the ring & Pinion etc,to just check all is ok.
I will post the part number this evening,as i have saved the bag with the numbers from porsche motorsport. They were about £450 on the euro exchange etc

I recently had the motorsport diff plates fitted in the RS, looking at the invoice, the diff plate pack was £536.00,
crown wheel bolts £34.20, safex J gear oil ( 4 ltrs ) £55.20 and the labour was £50.00, total price for the work was
£675.00 plus vat, the Motorsport diff pack was sourced from Carnewal .

£50 labour???? that is a result!.....can you tell much difference or have you not had the opportunity to track it yet?

The diff plates were replaced because the originals had obviously failed the normal test of turning the one wheel
and the opposite wheel should also move ( in the same direction ) the job start to finish was no more than 1.5 hrs,
I seemed to recall a slight bit of side movement under acceleration and deceleration when they were new but seem
to have settled down now, I think these are a better option as the factory plates tend to wear out a lot quicker than the
stronger motorsport option ?

You are saying that it turns in the opposite direction then the LSD is OK? Others have said that it should turn in the same direction. So which one is correct?

Harry

The diff plate numbers are 950 332 981 81 1004065318
They are also made in the uk.
Thats a good rate £50!
Crown wheel bolts you can get from a good fastner supplier, some people reuse the originals, but the book says to throw away and fit new Porsche ones.
You will find a differance when you realise how Knackered your old plates were, and how much more stable the car is on lift off.And the best part is coming out of a corner.
