Main dealer or specialist for servicing....?

Hi all, just after a little local advice! Have always had my 981 Boxster S serviced at the Reading dealership and have renewed the warranty every 2 years. Their service costs are now very expensive and my car is 13 years old so I'm considering changing to a independent for servicing/repairs which I know will mean I can no longer keep the warranty. What do others do? Have most of you 'jumped ship' and, if so, can you recommend a local garage/mobile specialist, I live in Maidenhead. Thanks in advance, Roger

Hi Roger,

Oddly enough I did some research on this subject for my nephew who lives in Burnham when he purchased a 2014 981 back in June last year and found these Porsche Independents in your area:

RSJ Sports Cars in Slough;

Northway Porsche in Reading;

Tognola Engineering in Datchet;

Porsche Torque in Uxbridge;

RPM Technik and JZM Porsche in Herts.

Unfortunately I’m in North Beds and can’t give any recommendations, but I’m sure someone in R19 will be able to advise you.

Jeff

Northway every time for me. Just down the A4 away from the OPC. Fixed price servicing and exceptional level of support. I made the move some 8 years ago with my 981 and now with my 718. Never regretted it. The swinger for me was my 4 year service quote for the 718 from Reading OPC was £1,900 and had it done by Northway for £660. Money well saved to spend on touring and petrol.

Great, thanks for getting in touch Jeff!

That's really useful, thank you Graham. I know I'll have to give up having the warranty through Porsche if I move from the OPC but the disparity in service costs is huge so I'm on the cusp of doing so. Thanks again

Wrightune in Wallingford are excellent. Just so you have a comparison. Not too far away and Chris there is very good to deal with. I hear good things about Northway but I haven’t used them. Good luck

Another vote for Chris at Wrightune - plus he is usually a shorter lead time than Northway, who are now booking till late May
