major service quote

I was in my local OPC recently and while I was there I thought I'd enquire about servicing. I had already seen the fixed priced servicing charges on the website, but I wanted to know whether there was any discount.

This is the quote I got for my next service which is due in a few months time:

Major Service: £583
Spark plugs: £193
Belt check: £27
Tyre Sealant £42
Brake Fluid: £153
TOTAL: £998

Supply own oil: -£130

Is the above consistent with peoples experience of first major service (4 years)?

I've done approx 25,000 miles on a 55 plate C4S and they advised that I might need front pads depending on my driving style...
Front Brake Pads: £456

£456 seems a bit strong for brake pads!!

If you are a Club member you should get a 10% reduction. That is just about £100 or almost double your membership fee [:D]

I asked nicely when I got my service as I was getting my warranty also and they knocked 10% of the total bill for me

think the pads are a little excessive in price...

£1000 for a full service , jeeeeeeeeeeeessssssss need to alter my prices[:D]

Every 2yrs...You pay that every year to service a modern day bmw so i recon its a result in a performance car

Most independents will tell you to change the belt every 4 years, not just check asper the OPC.

The prices for 987s aren't dissimilar to the 997 - one well known indi quoted me £564 all in (thats spark plugs, brake fluid, air, pollen and oil filters, oil, tyre sealant replacement , full diagnostic check). Another quoted me £397 for the service, £45 to ckeck the belt and another £47 to change, tyre sealant £29.65 and then spark plugs at £130, full diagnostic incl - total £649

Porsche service pricing isn't on the website at present - no doubt being revised upwards !

The service pricing is available if you select a specific OPC - e.g. Porsche East London service pricing is here:
http://www.porschehost.com/servicepricing911997.asp?opc=21

It's standard pricing across all the OPCs, right?

Really? Well I've got two BMWs, neither of which costs anything like that to service. One of them has now done over 70k in under 4 years from new. Total cost of servicing £780 plus 2 sets of tyres at about £400 each set.

That's less than £400 a year, including tyres.

I know a few ///M owners who are shocked at the excellent costs of Porsche servicing AND warranty costs

Friend of mine got a bmw 330 cab and anytime she takes that near a main dealer it's always 750 quid. I'd bet an m3 or m5 is more to service than a modern 911

My first major service on my 2004 C2S at PC Leeds last October cost £698.02 and included full service, brake fluid, spark plugs, their oil and headlamp adjustment. I thought it was reasonable and I got a 911 courtesy car for the day, which caused some raised eyebrows at work!

mine was circa £800 FROM OPC Colchester last year which i thought for a major service every two years was pretty good. So good infact that i stumped up for PSE whilst the car was in there! Needs two rear tyres now which are proving not to be cheap. Best quote ive had for 19" wheels N rated tyres is £288 per tyre. OPC wants £330 a corner

£288 seems a good price. I paid £314 (inc VAT) for Michelin Pilot Sport N1 rears a couple of months ago. That price included fittting balancing, valve and nitrogen fill.

Yes, it is.

My E46 cost 800.00 for an inspection 1! an inspection 2, well that's even more!

Our E92 M3 1200m running in service was going to be 350.00 until I spoke to the dealer. Not sure how it balances out over the longer term though.

Cheers,
Simon

Just to keep this in balance,
My BMW 330D M Sport had its first menu based service at 23000 miles and 9months at a cost of £221.00 which included £92 for oil.
My C2S Cab has also recently had its first service at 2 years and 9000 miles at a cost of £562.00 inclusive of 10% club discount, this included £90 for oil and a brake fluid change.
Both in the circumstances I consider reasonable.

Yes Geoff both reasonable but remember your beamer is a diesel and not a sports car. AS the chap above you said if u service a Full M model then its different league in my experience

You managed about £200 discount off menu pricing !

I've only just join PCGB, so you won't have heard from me before. However, I was at Bolton OPC recently getting 2 rear tyres for 997 gen1 and got a quote for 4 year major service. They were keen to offer 10% and advised I consider supplying own oil if I wanted to save a bit more. The total for them to do everything was around £800 and appeared negotiable. With regard to the tyres, I have previously used an independent in warrington (Jefferies performance tyres), but I persuaded Bolton OPC to match their price which they did. Two rear Bridgestone NI rosso (295/30/19) for under £500 !!! fitted by an OPC.
Bolton OPC seem genuinely keen for service business and are happy to be competitive.

well you can haggle a bit, after some chin scratching and i will have to see ,managed to get 25% off labour on full service belts fluids ect. just ask .

Anyone happen to know if Porsche East London would offer a 10% discount on the service for PCGB members ? And whether they'd allow me to provide the oil ?
