I finally decided where to mount my MBC, as per the following:-

Obviously this doesn't allow adjustment from within the car - unless I wrap string around the adjuster and feed it in through the front windows [
] - but seemed like a neat solution.
I did need to move the clutch had pipe slightly, hence the second hole, but the barrel of the MBC fitted the hole in the lifting eye perfectly.
Whilst on the subject, I don't know if I've broken it already. The adjustment on the MBC seems very fine from closed to fully open. You twiddle one way, untill you can't blow through it, and the knob feels quite floppy. You turn no more than 2/3rds of a turn the other way and the valve seems to be fully open even though you can continue to turn the knob for many more turns in the same direction. Is it knackered?
