MBC Mounted - but not DPW yet

I finally decided where to mount my MBC, as per the following:-

Obviously this doesn't allow adjustment from within the car - unless I wrap string around the adjuster and feed it in through the front windows [:D] - but seemed like a neat solution.

I did need to move the clutch had pipe slightly, hence the second hole, but the barrel of the MBC fitted the hole in the lifting eye perfectly.

Whilst on the subject, I don't know if I've broken it already. The adjustment on the MBC seems very fine from closed to fully open. You twiddle one way, untill you can't blow through it, and the knob feels quite floppy. You turn no more than 2/3rds of a turn the other way and the valve seems to be fully open even though you can continue to turn the knob for many more turns in the same direction. Is it knackered?
 
That looks familiar. It's not on sale or return is it [:D][:D][:D]

It is working normally. You just cant blow as hard as a K26/6 [:D][:D]

I connected my MBC up to the TiAL this morning (but left the adjuster knob loose by the windscreen wiper motor)

Unfortunatley it made no difference, I still drop down from 15psi to 13psi of boost asI go over 5000 rpm and approach 6000rpm [&:] Grrrrrrr
 
Good news,

I remembered that the installation docs said to use PTFE tape to seal the input and output nipples on the MBC. I couldn't find my roll at first so installed it without. I added the PTFE yesterday and now it holds 15psi to 5500rpm then drops to 13 by the redline. I'm getting there [:D]

Ordered a vacuum pipe kit from Promax yesterday in the hunt for that final 2 psi [:-]

That's worth remembering. It's going to be so much better having someone on hand who reads instructions - not nearly as exciting though.
 
I replaced most of the vacumm pipes last night.

How the blummin heck do you get to the one under the AFM?????

Do you need to take the airbox and intercooler pipes off? There's no way I could get my hand under there. Note to self - don't change vacuum pipes on a hot engine after a 40 mile commute. The 3rd degree burns on my hands are a testimony to this unwise idea

Replace the AFM with MAP1 [:D][:D][:D]

That is one of the (several) pipes that I have thought "I must get round to doing that" as are the ones down to the heater and the ones running across the back of the engine bay that connect into the exploding plastic one way valves.

As a matter of interest, the purasil tube will grip the outside of the existing Porsche hard tubes so it is possible just to replace elbows, juctions and convenient runs of tubing without ripping out all of the existing.
