Hi all,
Anyone up for a quick survey to see how much we have used our cars/reliability etc?
I will start
MY 06 Cayenne S
106k miles mainly motorway, now just get used for local stuff and odd big journey
Changed coolant pipes originals did fail, replaced with metal updated part...
Numerous coils
Serviced as per shedule at Leicester Porsche Centre
Anyone with a higher Miler?????Any opinions on how far one of these could go for??
There is a turbo mentioned on pistonheads at 241k mile or something like that..??????

I have a 2004 Turbo with.......241k miles on it .....only had it a couple of weeks but what a car!
I did talk to the OPC who have serviced the car all its life before i took a 'considered plunge'..drives spot on,tight as a drum, would not know it has done the miles to look at or drive...

Recently joined the piggy club with a 2003 cayenne S with 101k still on original coolant pipes........
So far so good...except the major service I had done ££££ :-(

Mine's done 140k, trouble is it took two cars... Gen1 was perfect except for a set of coil packs and the usual rear window switch. That accounts for 65k.
The current one is 73k with no significant issues at all, soon to be traded for a diesel.

The rear window can be opened independently of the rear door by means of a switch under the rear wiper. This was notoriously problematic with random opening of the window etc. A recall on the early model replaced it with a modified version.

I'm on my second Cayenne with a few years between them filled with other Porsche, I've had the turbo S since Oct and added 6k to the total the amazing thing is the average MPG over that distance is 20.8 mpg this is mainly sitting at 70mph on the A1 and odd trip to Norfolk/Suffolk. I'm showing a bit of restraint at the moment as have a winter set of tyres fitted but these have made the Cayenne unstoppable in the Lincs snowfall at the start of the weekend and it stops the gritter lorries pebble dashing my 21" spotless wheels. So not up there yet with you other guys and respectable mileage but it does give us others confidence that the Cayenne will stay the course and the Wifes Touareg had 80K after 5 years with no problems and she did like pointing out they came off the same production line (well the chassis and doors maybe).

Hi John
My first Cayenne had the switch replaced under warranty with a revised version. My facelift car has had no problem and the new one doesn't have the opening rear window. I doubt there are any left that haven't had the recall and been fixed by now.

Hi,

My Cayenne is currently sitting at 119K miles, coolant pipes replaced at 97K and O2 sensors at 109K other than that been reliable (touch-wood).

Serviced at OPC's every year and mainly motorway miles before I purchased it (105K)

Currently thinking of selling it.....

Hi Bought My 05 3.2V6 in November has 120k and loving it.......Would agree with another post though auto box does hunt through the gears a bit.....Love the very high spec and air suspension

Mine has just clicked over 108k and has just had it's 2yr service ,nothing but a lumber switch, help folding the ski bag,new fuel cap retaining strip thing,I hoped they might find something as the extended warranty is still running, they didn't find a thing...
C'mon any other cars not commented on..?
Miles done?Faults that have reared there ugly heads...or stories of amazing reliability and starship miles welcomed!!!!????!
I just don't want to sell ours but the 125k mile extension limit is not far away...Love the car it's not worth much and don't want to sell it but I must admit I do worry a bogey is around the corner!!

My Cayenne is a 2004 S V8 model, rare being Manual Gearbox. I've had it almost 6 years and it's on 95k miles. I have had it serviced every year, and it's still on original Clutch, Battery, Coolent pipes etc, the only items to be replaced have been the coil packs (not due to any failures, just advised by my mechanic to change them), and the cable that pulls off the handbrake mechanism. Just been away this weekend in it, and cruised through heavy snow today in it with ease. I use it most days, and have no intensions of parting with it, so many more miles to be added. Me and my big mouth...[:D]

Cardan shaft replaced at 120355miles, £832.00 lighter.....[]

What's tha part?? Driveshaft?Cardan? failed what were the symptoms as it failed, instant or pre symptoms..?

The Cardan Shaft is the same as a prop-shaft, it provides drive to the rear wheels...

There were not any real symptoms of it failing, but when it did finally go, there was a loud knocking noise when accelerating. I had a look at the failed shaft and the main rubber shaft had almost completely dis-integrated....

It is one of the known failures on the Cayenne as well as coolant pipes on V8's & Turbo's.....

Hope this helps....

Had my GTS from new and it is now just turned 4 years old.

Grand total of 21,000 miles ! No problems.

The low mileage is because my 911 turbo Cab and 3 other cars also clock up mileage, so I would say that I do an average of 15,000 a year but not all in the Cayenne. [:)]
