Mileage survey!!!!!!!

My 06MY S has just clicked over 113k,Wife just done 600 mile roundtrip with kids and it had a slight vibration, turned out to be a coil pack had it replaced under extended warranty.....It's up for renewal soon do I renew it one more time???
Any new high milers out there??
Any stories of awsome reliability?....or not so reliable???

My 2004 3.2 tiptronic just turned 116K, only owned for 6 months. Service and new tyres since purchase and 2 trips towing caravan to Cornwall and Droitwich, and all going well. History with the car shows replacement air pump and prop shaft but thats all. Looking forward to many more driving and towing miles. Spoilt for comfort and toys.

I've had my 2004 Cayenne S (manual) for 7 years, and it's done 96,000 miles, when I got it the mileage was about 30k. I go against the flow and have it serviced every year, although based in North Yorkshire and have access to some smart specialist service centres I use Porsche Centre Silverstone to look after it, they do me a great deal, and I trust them. About 2 years ago I was advised that it was rare for me to not to have had coil pack problems, so I had them all replaced at the 80k service interval. A point to note, many items such as the battery, exhaust, clutch are still original, all I have replaced are tyres, brakes and the cable that operates the hand brake when you pull it from the dash, and a switch that operates when you push on the foot pedal for the handbrake. I was advised not to buy air suspension, so I didn't. I must say that the car really impresses me, it gets most use over the winter months, and is a pleasure to own.

I am the guy with the Turbo mileage.....currently sitting on 247k...looking through previous OPC history it had new turbos at about 175k,coolant pipe upgrade but dont know if this was needed or preventative.Really the history is all pretty standard stuff, brakes.tyres etc.Only thing i have replaced is P/steering pump,oh and now have the 'brake booster faulty' light on (this is a well known fault with a break/crack in a vacuum hose on the turbo side of engine.....gets a bit hot!)
still a very tight drive, great performance and at current prices, absolute bargains.

Would love to hear more about your high miler as and when it happens,I would like to do the same with my S[:)]

oil consumption? mine is topped up about every 800-1000 mles....according to OPC this is perfectly normal useage as a 'new' Cayenne,so i figure mine @just shy of 250k is pretty good!

Sounds good, anything in the history before you owned the vehicle, engine or gearbox?Coolant Pipes, shafts etc?

Dont really know as I bought it cheap from a chancer and they just wanted rid of it, someone had done a leather colour change and made a mess of it, forgot to mention I had to change a drive shaft £600 plus £300 fitting charge It has a few warning lights that come on but it works perfectly.

I love the power in manual but in auto 2 ,3 and fourth gears move up far too fast do you know if anything can be done about this

Doesn't sound too bad that..
I have made my mind up to spring one more time for the extended warranty it's my last chance to renew next week as I am at 114k miles ..we love the car and its almost new car peace of mind for 2 years for 2k.
Then if we keep it after that we are our own!!!!!

Hi Mark

When I saw your post I thought that the mileage you had done with your car was over the limit of what they would cover by warranty - it used to be 100k miles. I checked PC web site just now and it states:

Unless during the first 12 months post a new car delivery, acceptance of a car for a Porsche Approved Warranty requires a mandatory 111 point check. Also a car must meet the terms and conditions of the Approved Warranty and it can be purchased until your car is 9 years old or has covered 125,000 Miles (or 8 years for a 2 year policy).

I wonder when they upped the mileage?

I will be renewing mine next year without any doubts, as it will give me piece of mind as I use it every day and it has covered 66k.

I've just had my renewal letter through and noticed that they are now using a different insurer, so wondered if that was when it changed...

Yup it's 125k,and as long as you renew below that you get the cover for the term,so I reckon I am going for it, 2 years peace of mind,my wife uses it to go and visit her parents as they have moved to Cornwall and the breakdown cover is really good.
I have always extended thew warranty since new and it has paid out a few times for the coolant pipes also a leak that made it nessacery to take the gearbox out plus coils. Will be gutted if it runs like a Swiss watch for two years now!

Afternoon Guys, I have just entered Porsche ownership for the first time with a 116k 2004my Cayenne S Tiptronic. Bought from 911 virgin.
Full OPC history. Lets see how it goes! Expect to do 10k a year and will maintain and repair the vehicle myself. Servicing it every 12 months regardless.
