I have every confidence that if any of us would go to the trouble of sending him something then something would be printed. []
It might also be the case that any of us that have anything interesting to say tend to air it on the forum. I don't much see the point of having to generate something erudite for PP when I can both say it quicker and gain a quicker response in a more modern medium.
That said, I have submitted a couple of articles in the past; one of which was printed and one which wasn't. I recently submitted an article on the 944 Scotland Trip so it will be interesting to see if that sees the light of day - it did have pictures of a 911 with it, so I might stand some sort of chance. I used to read it from cover to cover but I don't think I've even fully flicked through the last two issues [:-]

I actually sent in the second part of my potted history of 944-dom a couple of months ago. The first part was printed the second not so. Was it crap Nick? The historical bit was really for new owners who hadnt yet read the few books available.ORIGINAL: John Sims
I think it is just a case of Nick being very busy and nobody sending him any reports or anything to include.

As a group we re probably the most articulate Porsche owners (Boxster owners dont like chipping their nails on a keyboard, and the 911 brigade are notoriously thick) it does seem a shame we cant make a consistent prescence in PP, which IMO is a good mag, and I enjoy it!

True, and I find it hard to type with 2" long nails as well - that's why my spelling is always so bad []
It's all about making the members (not all of whom use the Forum) feel part of something.
The originator of this thread clearly felt left out or ignored by not seeing his particular register in the mag.
There's always something to say - or at least there should be.

Oh and I did wonder if the Why a 944? thread might not create some intersting copy for those who havn't read it already.

I agree with you - pick two or three at a time and there would be months worth.
I seem to recall there was a suggestion of feeding PP with choice snippets from the forum previously.
I also agree that, as one of the largest registers within the club, we aught to have more of a presence. Perhaps our Assitant RS could liase with our RS and ensure we have something each month; even if it is ripped off the forum, a selection of Rick's pictures or just a brief, "This month, members of the forum did......"
Lets be honest we do do a lot:-
Just going through Rick's Events pictures we had:-
ProMax meet
Front Runner
JZ Machtech
Dyno Day
Cotswolds Rally
Gold Track May
Scotland
ProDrive
Gold Track July
Gold Track Aug
Hastings

Can`t comment on the content of the last few mags as I`ve been out of the country since July, but apropos some of the comments on this thread it begs the question whether the magazine is worth the money it costs the club to produce other than as a vanity publication to wave at other car clubs. Why not take the magazine online and save a shedload of cash to spend on other things?
what do other people think?

From what I can remember of the last balance sheet , PP costs the thick end of 100K a year, I suppose some of that is offset by ad revenues, but I don`t know if that includes salaries, which I believe are substantial and as you said, the mag itself is hardly gripping reading.Another point that`s just occured to me is whether Porsche would allow us to ditch the mag now that they`ve got a say in the running of the club?
Does anyone know what happened to the money they gave the club BTW?

jr.

Well I aaked what had been done with that money "for the benefit of the members" back in July and nobody knew then...
I am assuming that all will be revealed at this years AGM, or perhaps not. [8|] As a displayer at the Festival I was very pleased with my free goody bag which included asouvenirr mug, program, pen and a few other bits. If this is what the money went to then I'm happy. Obviously I would have been happier with two mugs and a set of pens in different colours. [] I would have been happier still with displays from Ruf, Gemballa, 9ff and all the others that make modern Porsches exciting, but I guess I'm meandering off thread a little.
I have to say I'm even more impressed with the whole CoC than I was when it was signed. So much so I suggest we add "k-up" to the end of the akronym.
You are a naughty Fen at times []

....but I expect you'll find that the net result is PP generates money through advertising rather than costs money to produce. ....
No ! It costs money . Largest single item of expenditure i believe !
