Mobil 1 very cheap supplier

I would have thought that a good quality synthetic oil is suitable for any car of any age. Why on earth would a fully synthetic not be suitable for any engine - they outperform mineral and semi-synthetic oils in every way you care to mention. I suspect that in the early days of fully synthetic oils there may have been issues, which is possibly where a reputation has been built around them, but things move on and generally get better and not to use a fully synthetic in any car in my mind is a false economy. OK you might save £20 per oil change by using a cheaper mineral oil but £20 is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Maybe because it's better to have good oil in your old engine than brilliant oil all over the garage floor ? ? ?

As someone has already posted
One thing to think about is that a lot of indepedents don't recommend synthentic oil, as it could cause oil leaks due to flushing out all the gumming that has been holding the seals and gaskets in place for the last few years

Yep - but if it can flush out that type of contamination from the engine, how well would it be cleaning the rest of the engine internals?. Its a bit of a contradictory viewpoint from people who are recommending non synthetic oil that potentially has caused the build up of this level of sludge, to then say not to use synthetics as they will resolve the problem but cause a bigger issue [;)]

ANY modern oil will be far superior to the original mid 1980`s oil porshe spec`d IMO however it is good sense to use the best quality you can afford. Problem is mine uses loads when trashed so its an expensive business.

My other cars and my son use a good quality semi synthetic Comma oil from Partco. Buy a box of 6 x 5Litres and its about a tenner/5Litres. Been running Toyota Hiluxes and Landcruisers on it for years. The current `bruiser` takes 13 litres each oil change [&o]

Most people around here (I`m near Luton so Vauxhall biased) swear by Vauxhalls oils. Cheap and if Vx can get 12-15k between oil changes etc it cant be bad (can it?)

My other indie uses Audi oil as spec`d in their performance cars and has for years.

I`m inclined to think we all get paranoid about oil so whats wrong with good quality fully synth from a top car marque??
