Monthly Meeting Wednesday 18th May

I was dead chuffed to be placed = 4th with Rob.

Good day out with some wonderful craic too!

How Jamie beat me and Rob I don't know but I did see him wit[]h a rather large brown envelope as the judges were around is Boxster [:D][:D].

What a shame that Si felt as he did. I wish I had known as I would also have made him welcome. I am sure Fred meant no harm personally.[]

Some lovely cars there and I loved your green Caynan R Alan. You must let us know how you got on at the Porsce Experience track event today.

Think you mean Jamie!!

Jeremy was 5th but if he'd cleaned his windows, he'd have whooped us both!!

Nice to see 3 OPC Bolton customers walking out with prizes for cars purchased there, we should be on commission for promoting the brand.

Si

We were all told to park in the lower car park and then called up to the concours area to park in the allocated slot which had been arranged in year order. Non-concours entry cars, even Porsches, were kept in the lower car park. I don't recall you having entered concours before the closing date by the way. There has been enough publicity for it, and Barry Dolton gets copies af all my e-mails about events.

If everyone turned up just to watch a concours we would have no entrants and nothing to see. Why not try entering yourself and seeing how much cleaner your car is than others. Why not even help Region 5 organise an event yourself. I am sure Barry would appreciate the help

It's a pity you felt unwelcome. Perhaps you should have made yourself know to me, as I tried to talk to everyone who attended and didn't even spend any time polishing my own car on arrival. I enter concours simply to make up the numbers and to compare year on year how my car is doing.

I trust you found the facilities at Porsche Centre Bolton interesting and the staff helpful, as they had opened up especially for us as they now don't open on Sundays. I hope you also enjoyed the free buffet they put on. If members tell me they are coming to events it helps with numbers for catering, so I hope there was some left for you to enjoy.

If you ever come along to other events please make yourself known to me. As you will have noticed we had a good turnout of R5 members who both entered (even winning 1st prize) and came along to support the event generally These R5 members also come along to many other R18 events and they will tell you they are always made welcome.

Hi David,

Thanks for the response. Perhaps I have come across more 'upset' than is actually the case.
I only realised a couple of evenings prior to the event that it was taking place. I work in the motor trade so my weekends are more often than not taken up with work commitments.

I have taken part in a good number if PCGB concours events with my old 968 in the past few years and in most cases particularly Yorkshire regions event at Harewood where I have simply turned up and signed on.

It was actually one of OPC Boltons guys who told me of the event and I made the assumption that I could turn up on the day and compete with my Carrera 3.2 - perhaps an incorrect assumption on my part.
I did indeed think that even if it was too late to enter it would of been nice to display the car and make up numbers.

In the end I parked up for outside the showroom for a while and took a look at the hard work the guys had put into the cars.

Well done to Dan for giving up his Sunday to open up to the club.

No. 2 I've been in cyprus all last week - how the hell did I win anything? [:D]

PEC was a LOT of fun, car was AMAZING, I know were werent racing and basically there aren't any straights on the handling circuit but kept pace with GT3RS, the white R definitely needs new tyres now ;)

Just got back from PEC myself. Sadly, having set off at 2pm!!! Accident on M1...

Thoroughly enjoyable day, watching the 997 turbo having to put it's indicator on to let the humble boxster (spyder) past on the handling circuit was ace.

Kick plate good too, sideways on full lock, superb fun!

I have emailed Carrera74 and asked him to phone me.

Anyone who has organised a static event will know the importance of getting the parking right.

Apart from the entrants there were three cars in the top car park, mine (so I could get the stuff I needed during the day), a new Cayman R and a 911 that was a previous national concours winner. All other owners were asked to park in the other car park.

Charm school! Next they'll be wanting me to be P.C.

Cheers,

That large brown envelope was to try and shelter us from the wind, there being money inside of it was pure coincidence! [;)]

Cheers,

No. 3 I didn't get any presentation bonus points because my car was too new, otherwise I'd definitely have beaten that Jamie fella.

Fred, the only PC world you'll ever inhabit is a shop!

Porsche Experience Centre, silverstone.

Finally got round to my free day from when I bought my car. I could have brought a guest - for 500 notes or thereabouts so I went on my own!

if you buy me a few beers, I may laugh when I'm legless.

(with apologies in advance to anybody offended who doesn't know me or Fred well enough)

On that basis,I'm really glad I don't know either of you well enough, but I do know that Fred tends to "hop" about a bit (a bit like Dean,really--ducks quickly to avoid slings & arrows) when people do not obey the Grandmaster of Parking.[:D]

Hello Colin,

I see from your signature that one of the cars you own a BMW Van! Have you had the seat raised so you can see over the steering wheel?

Cheers,
