Morgan Factory Visit 6th June

ORIGINAL: John Sims

The 944 Register went last year......it is a very strange place. I am sure you will find it very interesting.

My main thought was "Why on earth do you still do it like that?" Morgans could be exceptional cars if they used what are now conventional materials conventionally. Instead they insist on using production methods that everyone else replaced with something superior 40 years ago. And the only reason they do is because it is "Traditional". Steam trains and bi planes are "traditional" but we don't use them in conventional transport these days either.

Without wishing to offend anyone; It is a car built by eccentrics for eccentrics.

To answer, I think it might be..
Quite a few Porsche owners also own a Morgan.

One of the surviving British car makers and EVO gave them a great thumbs up, OK the engines are German but its possibly the English sense of the underdog that makes that place for Morgan.

This visit is now Fully Booked.

However, I am keeping a list for any last minute cancellations.

Please remember to bring your £5 per person with you on the day.
Preferably in cash, as I'm not aware of them having credit card machines in Malvern as yet [;)]...

Awesome Garyw!! Well chuffed[:D][:D][:D]. Thanks very much.

If any of you guys get a chance on the day, could you check out my cars idle and let me know if it is comparable with your own experiences? I noticed one of the coil packs are split but have been told that it is working and does not need replacement[]

Are you sure that isn't Five Guineas? [;)][:D]

Jason, there will be a small drive back towards the lunch venue and I should imagine a bit of carpark chat there, I'm sure people will happily offer advice there [:)].

John, before my time [:D]

I went 6/7 years ago with the Boxster Register arranged by Derek Sharp. We had a great day. The scenery is beautiful. Derek was obviously impressed because he now has a Morgan on his fleet.

Hope to join your Register one day.

That is what John Harvey-Jones (former ICI chairman) said when he visited them on one of those Troubleshooter TV programmes. They completey ignored him and have gone forwards without any problem since!

A really fascinating visit, thanks to all involved for arranging this. Next year in Stuttgart . Hope everyone enjoyed lunch just sorry I couldn't join you. Here are a few pictures:

Fish glue -I told you at the time. You really need to pay more attention! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Very enjoyable day Rob/Gary. Thanks a bunch for organising the event.
Regards,
Clive and James

Excellent day out with usual good company! Not sure our cars would have handled quite so well on the spirited drive across the top of Malvern if they had been carrying the 8-10 x 5 litre bottles of (free) water that most of the other punters seemd to be taking away from the natural spring!
The Cargraphic mesh inserts that Rob9974S has merit further publication - provided 'n fitted by Parr.

After a bit of a diversion.. I'm back home again now [:)]

Thanks to all those who came along on Wednesday, it was a pleasure to meet you all..
Really glad you enjoyed the visit.. I'm still shocked the way the cars are built.! I've visited both Porsche and Jaguar production lines and you can certainly see where the spirit and heart is put into the Morgan car.[:)]

Great pictures Allan (thank you) I whilst concentrating on other things forgot my camera [:(]

The weather was excellent for the run across the hills, hope you all got some views into Wales, I should imagine the mobile cash machine (scamera) is still gutted that he was on the other road ( not that we had anything to offer him) as I hear they quite enjoy their jobs [:'(].....

Allan, Yes hopefully Stuttgart is on the cards.
Clive, Hopefully I did what you asked me to do on the drive [;)]
Jason [] not down, Flat !![;)]

Agree, for those that didn't see Rob has the mesh in his front grills, it stops the leaves from getting through and corroding the radiators [:'(][:'(][:'(]... something that me be of interest for everyone...

Till the next one... Reading on the 21st July [:)]

Here's one I built earlier:

WoodP1.jpg

This is a space-frame mock-up of the C2S - well it represents the ground clearance[:)] The purchase of my Carrera was delayed when I discovered that the approach angle of my drive meant that I couldn't get one into my garage, as the above picture shows. After the removal of 35 tons of rubble and a near 3 X PSE dent in my options budget a new drive was constructed around my wooden Porsche. The contractors were amused at first but soon came to realise that it made sense to have a means of checking inclines before setting things in tarmac. I still have the bits so if anyone fancies building a wooden Porsche I can get you started [:D].

Your pulling my leg, its the start of your garden decking...:ROFLMAO:

garyw

PS... [] wish I'd thought of doing that

Rob, they are great additions and well worth it if it saves a rad or three [:'(].

Awaiting to hear if they will be doing anything for the Turbo...
