Morons!!

I had reason to call my local Porsche Approved repair centre (Motorvation in Bridgend) today and I asked them for a ball-park quote on the removal, re-spray, re-lacquer and re-fit (with some possibility of some minor filling work to the off-side corner) of the PU on a 2008 997 Turbo. I assumed that the paint is GT Silver metallic (?). The quote is £362.50 + VAT. The work is guaranteed for 10 years.

Yes, about what I have been quoted.

I am trying to get a better quote though by shopping around...

That's interesting. If it's a Porsche Approved Repaire Centre then the work is supposed to be guaranteed for life. You have to have a (free) inspection each year though.

£1500 to completely replace the bumper. They don't think it will be necessary though as they can't see any splits. So just a repair for the scratches and respray.
The only issue will be matching the paint so won't ever be like new

I wonder how much a new front one is..[:(]

After Bodytechnics brought my car back before Christmas I noticed as they were rolling it off the truck that a *new* scratch had appeared on the rear bumper that wasn't there before.

Looks like someone has knocked the bumper whilst the paint was drying - the paint is all bunched up. I immediately called them and they agreed to take my car back and fix it again.

Was meant to be going back today but they called this morning and their truck has now broken down!! So waiting to see how long it takes to repair their truck before I can get the car back to them for the couple of days they have requested.

From posting on other forums it seems common for bodyshops to often do as much damage than they fix. Hopefully this time I won't have a repeat performance...

damn, that looks like quitean impact. You'd have to be incapable of safe driving if you you hadn't noticed that bump. What if it was a child and not a car?

CCTV should have 'em covered as it's designed to identify drivers who 'forget' to pay for fuel.
Good luck.
