I wouldn't have thought that an "old" 911 would rate a second glance, but that is clearly not the case.
It might not be an all too familiar feeling within PCGB, but from various outings and meetings I had with a variety of porsches and within a variety of clubs, its especially the old 911's and 356 that grab the yoofs and media luvvies attention. "respek" I recall to have heard. []
I love the 356. If I could I'll have one as a second car... Saw two whilst in Germany in amazing condition, they are just so... right in the same way you cannot fault an eggs shape. It's just the way nature had intended, not too much, or too little - if that make sense?

Yeah and when I was that age as well as 911's I was also dreaming about Sam Fox and Lynda Lusadi.....now if only I could fulfill that dream too... though in the case of the Sam Fox et al I'd rather take the current models!? []
Carol Decker from T'Pau, Sam Fox & Tiffany had my heart rushing... What a combination... ;-)
Perhaps the one at a Nat Trust property carpark. Parked up and retired to a nearby picnic bench for a cuppa.Three blue-rinsers each complete with hand-held lapdogs slowly wandering past the back of my beastie when the cooling fan starts up with the usual mighty woooosh. Cue for triple-jumps, dropping of lapdogs and resultant fusillade of yapping and doggie attempts to pretend-bite this dreadful monster (the car, that is).Nearly dropped me cuppa, laughing so much. Icy stares from ladies.

You're right about the shape. I think we'd all have a 356 as a second (or third) car if we could afford it. Sad thing is even run of mill examples seem to fetch huge money these days. So the motto is "hang on to your 993s" lads []

Popped along to Bruntingthorpe one day as it is very close to me and there was, if I remember correctly, a Goldtrack day there. Just went along to watch not to take part. Parked up in the middle of the paddock. Only had the car a short time.
We're all standing around chatting and there is this company day going on in a load of Ginetta cars. Suddenly this chap looses it on the circuit and comes skidding across the grass straight towards the paddock. No brakes working on the grass so no way is he going to stop.
There is this flat bed lorry in the paddock with a couple of steel ramps (say seven foot long) up onto the back. The chap manages to somehow miss the back of the lorry other than removing the rear light cluster but hits one of the steel ramps and then comes to a spinning streeching halt with steam and oil everywhere (he was fine, completely unhurt but car looked a wreck).
Anyway the steel ramp has launched itself about 30 feet in the air. The whole paddock stops to watch and we all quickly compute where it is likely to land which is of course where my car is parked. I am not insured for track days nor, I suspect, for being parked on an airfield whilst one is taking part and I get this distinctly sick feeling.
We all watch as it lands short of my car, slides spinning towards it and comes to rest gently against the rear wheel (totally undamaged).
Phew ...

Ha ha these are getting better - I hope this thread runs and runs...[]
[]Ooops sorry - I'll try to stay on topic. I did have one abstract experience with my 3.2 Carrera a few years ago - a very posh woman in Waitrose carpark came over as I was loading up with shopping and said "My husband was wondering what that car is." "A Porsche", I said, not wishing to bother her with too many details. She went off to relay this information to her husband and returned after a few minutes to say "well, we thought it was a kit car". [&:] For possibly the first time in my life I was completely lost for words. Not particularly funny I know, but perfectly true.

Recent trip to France on Eurotunnel. 4 chavvy geezers in hoodies grouped round our car (which has the Turbo bodykit) musing what sort of car this might be. The loudest of them goes - "Mate, I know about sportscars - this is definitely at GT4"
