MOT & Front fogs

ORIGINAL: GlennS

Mmm... well I do get wound up by people driving around on clear days with their rear fogs on BUT if you're close enough behind me to be bothered by my rear fogs when it is foggy enough for me to have them on then you're too close.

Sorry Glenn must disagree on that, if you can see headlights behind you you shouldn't't have your rears on. They will distract from seeing brake lights.

I`m afraid I disagree to!

In fact its a once in a decade event for me. Very very rarely needed. If you can see the headlights behind you dont need your fogs on. If he`s too close the fog lights obsure the brake lights.

Me?............Unless there arent any lights behind I only put them on if its really really bad. As soon as I detect some lights approaching and determine what the visibility distances needed are then I switch them off if the car behind can see me as much as I can see the car in front.

100m is the recommended distance to start considering their use. On that basis unless its a pea souper they arent needed much at all.

asked my mate in work today he is a mot tester ,he told me they do not test front fog lights they only test the rears hope this helps

IT PASSED - YIPPEE [:D]

When I booked it in yesterday I asked them and they said the front fogs weren't tested so result there. Plus I had no advisories and emissions seem spot on to me. CO Max allowed is 4.5% and I have 0.64% and HC max allowed 1200ppm and I have 136ppm so looks squeaky clean to me, I'm well chuffed [8D]

Front fog lights are not tested on the mot and reversing lights are not tested either .Just as well as mine don'nt work !
