MOT Passed but a note on the Strutts

Sure, but genuine inserts are about £40 from the same place. That's about £70 saved.

For my money, I'm happy to spend a day playing with hacksaws and big drills to try and save (2x(133-70))+VAT (which comes to just over £148 ... which is a set of good springs, or some tie rods and new bushes, or quite a lot of beer.)

Chaps,

Another question ... some websites (Lindsey, for one) lists some front shocks only up to '86 - presumably up to the point where they stopped making the struts with removable tops.

Is it possible to fit any of these inserts to the later struts, or do you need to get specific inserts? (For instance, I am looking at Bilstein inserts, but they only list on the Lindsey website for models up to '86 ... )

Oli.

No the only inserts made for the S2 and Turbo are the koni ones. All the others are for the earlier cars that came with an insert as standard.

Oh, OK. So if I am going for inserts (and saving cash), I am looking at Koni ones.

Which are almost as expensive as the Sachs/Boge full struts.

Hmmm. Changes the decision a bit.

Toss-up. Sachs/Boge and easy to fit, or Koni (all for the same money)?

That was why I posted the ECP price. It seems a lot of hassle to save £60 or so unless the Koni mod is much better than the standard.
But I don't have a S2 so maybe I should shut up.
