My CGTS 4.0 has just arrived!

A little bit of an update now I've had the car a little over a month,

Options:

Selecting what options to go for was a proper rollercoaster, but overall glad with the options I chose for the car which were:

Agate Grey Metallic

Wheels painted in Satin Platinum

GTS interior package (red stitching)

Dashboard trim package leather (red stitching)

Steering column casing in leather (red stitching)

Sun visors Race-Tex

Storage compartment lid with Crest.

Cruise control

Heated multifunction steering wheel

'PORSCHE' logo painted satin black

Two-zone automatic climate control

Smoking package

PDLS+ LED main headlights

Light design package

ParkAssist (front and rear) with camera

Electrically folding and Automatically dimming mirrors

BOSE Surround Sound

Door sill guards in carbon (illuminated)

I'm happy with all my selections above and happy I dropped the gloss black of the lower sections of the bumpers, the matt suits it perfectly. Although given the choice the options I would have also selected in addition to the above are:

[ul][*]Lane Change Assist (there is quite a blind spot on the caman so feel this would be useful).[*]Speed limit indicator (again just useful to have this in the line of eye as a reminder). [/ul]So I've done 1800 miles now in 5 weeks which surprised me a little but very much enjoying the car, I started increasing the revs when I got to the 1000 mile mark, yes I know the book says 1800 or so, but from my experience in engineering and rebuilding engines I feel the 1000 is enough to start increasing the redline.

The other day I put 400ml's of oil in here to bring her back to just over 3/4 full and I've also had a play with the tyre pressures. The car war originally set to comfort mode c33PSI, whilst comfortable I did feel this when pushing so I decided to try the standard specification c39PSI, I then almost felt her hopping on certain B roads, so now I have it somewhere in the middle at c36PSI. This does not appear to set the pressure alarm off in either mode.

The other thing I have noticed is how long the gears are, oh how I wish these were shorter! And it this is the same either with PDK or manual, they are just way too long! How are others finding this?

Lastly, I have made one addition to the car since I've had her and that is the full set of Zunsport grills in black, they look the part and should help protect the grills from debris.

sounds like you’re really gelling with and enjoying your P&J Ryan 👍🏻

im hoping I’ll get an update on mine next week that’s she’s finished build and should be with the dealer within September (Current VMS estimated date is 16/09)

re tyre pressures - I’m surprised by those high pressures (ie 39 and even 36). Are 20” wheels run at higher pressures? and the same pressures front and rear? Have you noticed any difference in fuel economy with the higher / lower pressures?

in my 987 on 19” wheels the rears were 34 and the fronts 32, which I found perfect for comfort and grip at most temps all year round. When on track id drop by 6-8psi all round once tyres up to temp After the first session out.

interesting observation re gear ratios (much discussed across many reviews and forums) - how are you finding that affect your driving style (if at all)? Ie in 3rd for ‘everything’?

I finally opted for PDK, and I still don’t know if I’ve ‘picked right’, nor will I till a good few thousand miles + of post running in seat time on roads and track.

wishing you many more enjoyable miles to come 👍🏻

Hi Jason

P&J??

So the data inside the door states 31PSI all round for comfort and 35PSI for standard, what I was doing was filling to those temperatures cold and then realising an increase during my drive hence the higher figures above. so now they are set to 32PSI cold and this increases to 35/36PSI once up to temperature which is where the standard should be (sorry for the confusion should have explained this better in the first instance!).

In terms of economy I'm not sure what it does, I rarely have controlled conditions for that! although the car has already passed my expectations with an average return of 43MPG on a 180 mile trip. I thought that was amazing!

Cheers Carl (not Ryan 🙃)

P&J = pride and joy (a common term of endearment for one’s shiny 4-wheeled, multi-cylindered passion 😉🥰)

43mpg!!! Holy shizzle - that cylinder bank deactivation and loooong gearing clearly working well.

that makes sense re pressures cold ‘vs’ warm, though I am surprised they’re the same pressure front and rear as there’s more weight and mechanical grip at the rear than front. still im sure the Porsche engineers did their homework and worked em out correctly 😆

If only the long gearing were for 5th and 6th only, I mean 4th is OK where it is but 2nd and 3rd are too long IMO.
