Nice spec, Paul. Got just about all the toys there[:D] Bet it was a good price too! Right time to be buying first time I suspect. Joining the Club?
Cheers Alan

A wise man taking advantage of the lowering prices (except where some have gone up[&:] )
I hope you find the car to your satisfaction, be careful though as I honestly say you drive a 911 slightly different to a normal car..
The roads are a tad slippy so not the best time to find our..

If you're interested in the club, then why not pop along to the Pistonheads show over this weekend, myself and quite a few others have the 911 display ongoing [:)]

PS and post a pic when you can...

Ill be there on saturday and am really looking forward to seeing the 911 display. Quite a list of cars i gather.I will make the effort to say hi gary. cheers

David, Rob will be there on Saturday, I'll be on a snowy mountain in the south of France []
After a quick look around today it looks good, plenty of polished metal on show [:)]

Porsche club are right at the end in Hall 17, next to some fine tuning companies [8D]

[:)] Congratulations and welcome Paul. Hope you are enjoying your new car - it's a superb piece of kit.
As suggested, join the Club - the 997 register is one of the better ones (even with GaryW to get used to [:D]) and you'll meet a lot of good, like-minded guys (and gals). There's also the useful membership discount on parts! [;)]
Regards,
Clive

I trust you are referring to the car.....? Keep fingers away from that "PSM Off" switch this time of year?

Thanks for the warm welcome. I dont have the car yet so pictures will be coming after i collect it. Right now i a living in Calgary, Canada but i am returning to live in the Aberdeen area at the end of next week. So i havent even seen the car in the flesh, my father is picking it up next week and driving it up to Aberdeen for me.

As for taking it easy, slippy roads are a fact of life here in Calgary for 7 months of the year, hopefully i have learnt a little something about awd vehicles over the last 4 years. Last time i was living in Aberdeen i had a 300 bhp impreza so again some experience. But dont get me wrong i will be treating the loud pedal with some respect.

I paid a shade under 53k, felt like a good price to me based on other cars in various dealers around the country.

Paul

Indeed a good price[:D] Bet you'll be glad to get to the warmth of Scotland. Lived in just outside Aberdeen for couple of years and I seem to remember it only got down to -17C on a few occasions! Enjoy.

Yes.....

I've never turned it off, never even had cause too as I find it gives just enough slip to let me know I've just exited my talent zone [&:] [;)]

The only time I've ever driven with it off was at Millbrook and that convinced me to put an imaginary piece of tape over the switch and forget about it![:D] I discovered I didn't have a talent zone to enter[:(]

More information than we need [:D]

Quick question, when i ran the VIN through the identifier it brought up that my C4S is a 2008 model, were there any changes to the 997 from the 2007 model year to the 2008 model year?

Also what main differences will i notice between my C4S and similarly specced gen 2?

Thanks in advance for the info!

Paul

Paul, I had a Nov 07 reg Gen 1 C2S and I think the changes to the previous year's model were minimal if any. (I remember the dealer telling me they now have an A/c off light!) As far as the Gen 2 goes, and this list may not be exhaustive as it's off the top of my head,
Power up from 355 to 385 (torque up too, of course)
Outside cosmetic changes, mainly to lights (led driving lights and bi-xenons as standard, dynamic cornering lights)
Brake pre-filling and assistance (although I think these are on the 4 Gen 1 anyway, I had a 2?)
Option of PDK 7 speed box
PCM 3 with 6.5" touchscreen, improved but not perfect Satnav!!
PCM compatible with iPod, USB and aux input
Bluetooth Sim Access Profile for your phone (if it's compatible!) so you don't need to put sim card into slot
Heated steering wheel!!
Seat ventilation (with heated seat option only) Not often required in Aberdeen[;)]
TV tuner!
The CD multi-changer is now in the PCM unit and not in front compartment

Not all pluses. Exhaust sound is not as nice as Gen 1, until they bring out PSE for Gen 2 that is. PDK is not to everyone's taste. Sat nav should be the best out there and is not. However, overall, for me the Gen 2 with PDK has raised the bar sufficiently to warrant trading up (and losing a shed load in the process[:(]) but I decided on retirement to be a SKI GOD[:D] (which had nothing to do with the white powdery stuff)
