We remanufacture a standard OE part but using a new cross joint without bearings from the original OEM supplier but using a higher temperature and closer tolerance bearing (8 per shaft) which are pressed and staked in the original way. The original shaft joints were specified for left hand drive use and the right hand drive specified with the same joint specification as a left hand drive, with just a different length shaft... Unfortunately, the right hand drive shafts experience MUCH higher temperatures, which causes the seals to shrink and the grease to boil out of them, run dry and wear out. The bearings we use are much higher temperature in both the grease they are filled with, but also the seals used, so they should outlast an original Porsche shaft. Also because we remanufacture them, we can provide the same service to cars where the shafts are no longer available, such as for the Carrera GT, 924 turbo, 924 NA in both left and right hand drive, as well as the 944 right hand drive ones which are still available from Porsche.. however, just a couple of years ago, all models are lhd/rhd were available, which is part of an ongoing program with Porsche deleting older products, so soon the OE ones will not be available either, especially as Porsche centre on higher volume cars. Which is why we originally invested in the upgrade, not so much for the 944, where it is needed, but due to other models no longer being supported by Porsche.
