Second-hand replacement panels, lights, trim etc rather than new can be fitted............................
I expect we all have different views as to what is safety critical but ultimately, your insurer makes the decision..............

an individuals record actually has little to do with the premium
lower mileage doesnt always mean a lower premium
single driver doesnt always mean a lower premium
long NCB doesnt always mean a lower premium
Glad you got a good deal with Saga.Iain77 said:Just noticed the post and thought I’d add to it regarding my Macan Turbo renewal - been with NFU for 5-years and renewal due September. Quote was 24.5% up on last year which was after my £128 discount for 5-years in the mutual. Called them and they offered 2 solutions: first was to reduce my mileage; second was to increase my contribution should I need to claim. Shopped around and saved £200 by going to SAGA with all the protection, business use etc included. NFU won’t see me again….
I had 3 cars with them for around 15 years but their increases this year ranged from 35 to 50% and they wouldn't budge. LV were far more competitive with a higher mileage allowance and slightly lower excesses. Just no logic sometimes as LV were the underwriters for the Boxster Saga policy

At least insurers are now required to offer renewing customers a price that is no higher than they would pay as a new customer. I’m not sure that’s a great concession!

if it's not your fault you can claim the xs from the 3rd party at fault
As strange aa people who use mats to protect their mats..

I feel a sense of Rip-Off TBH.
The following are contributing to increased costs:
- energy costs (businesses aren't protected by the government guarantee)
- cost of raw materials (inc paint)
- labour costs
- parts shortages/delays extending repair time & therefore courtesy car costs
- some repairers now charging storage fees once vehicles are on site for / awaiting repairs
There also seems to be a lot of car thefts now, especially in central London. Anyone with Lockton may have seen the bulletins.
In theory, the FCA ruling a couple years ago stopped insurers from applying the loyalty premium, meaning the price for an existing & new customer have to be the same. However, believe some big insurers get around this by looking at entry channel, meaning it's probably worth ringing to see if a different premium is offered to the online price.
but not straight away and not always, sometimes it is your fault as well.Greenman986S said:Insuring your insurance?
