my view's after 1000 miles

I do not like the 5 digit Sat Nav, same as the other Porsches I have owned, but I have found this app for the IPhone which converts the post code into coordinates which works excellent (GPS Angel)

The postcode issue is something I really dont understand from Porsche. It should be something that their software chaps could fix in no time.
I saw another 991 near Guildford last week with a TomTom stuck to the windscreen. Makes you think.......
 
I understand that Germany do not support 7 Character Post codes.
The little app works fine, takes you back to your geography days.

Don't agree! I have a Audi Q3 with Sat Nav. It is the best Sat Nav I have ever had, so banish all those past comments that Tom Tom for £100 is better. It used to be! [:D]

The Q3 Sat Nav does everything I need incl full post code. One can also move the map to a position then insert as destination. Of course it has TMC (active) fast, short and economy routing.

Moreover, you can buy the car without Sat Nav, then upgrade later for little (all cars have the hardwear, you just insert a special SD card to download to the 40 GB HD)

If Audi can do it, why can't Porsche? [:mad:]

Glad you're liking it Huw - also done my first 1,000 miles but a bit less mpg due to a certain 500 mile round trip SW Drive with the 997 boys and girls!

Sports exhaust definitely adds to the fun factor, especially in Sport mode. Lots of pops and bangs on the overrun[:D]

Btw were the wheel arch guards present and correct when you picked your car up?

So does my new 7 series BMW and my wife's Merc C class so Porsche certainly have something to catch up on, mind you never found it much of an issue in my GT3RS , maybe because I don't use it enough.

 
Agree with point about full post code but having spent 30 mins in the dark looking for a B&B in the wilds of the country where a post code seems to cover 25 square miles it is not always the total solution.

Back on subject, nice car...
 
I've really no idea why Porsche are resisting 6 digit postal codes - it's surely only a flash software update for PCM 3 - not a deal breaker, but very irritating for UK customers. [:mad:]

Perhaps we have a computer geek in the Club that could help us out. [8|]

thanks Peter, the wheel guards were present when I picked her up. Have you used the sports plus mode a lot, Are you glad you went for the option.

I am sure I could get the Sport exhaust retrofitted by the Porsche centre for a price!.

Not used the sports plus yet, but great fun on the track in the previous Gen2. Still going a little [:-] gentle on the engine so yet to compare with the 991.

If you weren't fussed when you ordered the car, I'm sure you won't miss the sports plus package. IMO it's all a matter of degrees with these final pieces of the jigsaw. Unless you compare the features back to back you'd be hard pressed to tell the improvements the dynamic engine mounts or PDDC make against the standard car. For sure, if you intend to do a lot of track days these make a lot of difference, but for road use it's more a matter of preference. As are ceramics, and -20mm suspension etc.

Enjoy what you've got - looks the business btw.
